Hi all,

Like some others, I'm brand new here. I have a vintage (mostly stuff from late 50's - 70's) Marklin layout using the old blue analog AC transformer. I purchased a used #6021 control unit and hooked it up as per the instructions to run off the yellow/brown feeds from the old transformer. The problem is that I'm getting no out put from the 6021 or, more accurately, something like .5 volts AC. I'm thinking the 6021 may be defective but wanted to get input from the group. Thanks.

Hi!

I hope you're using a true-RMS meter, otherwise don't trust the 0.5 V reading and use a light bulb or a lighted coach (or even an analog loco) to test again.

OTOH the CU 6021 could really be defect.
Regards
Tom

Tom is right. Digital current is closer to DC than AC in shape. A lighted coach should give you an idea as to whether your 6021 outputs the correct voltage.

Have you removed all the radio condensators?

They may hay wire your 6021.

M-track with a CS2.

Thanks for this. My analog locos won't even move or light up with it. Thus, I'm thinking the 6021 may be defective.

Is the transformer putting out voltage through the brown and yellow terminals? Have you wired them to the correct sockets on the back of the 6021? If you connect them to the wrong ones, you can burn out your 6021. Once connected, have you tried a 6021 reset. Press both the start and stop buttons at the same time until 99 appears on the LED display. Does the unit now put out voltage. If testing with an analog lok, make sure that you have a long enough track section, as the lok will take off at full speed.
Also, make sure that dip switch 2 is on and all others are off.
If you want to test using the other outputs on the transformer, connect the plugs and set the transformer to about 75-80% of max. Do not click reverse!

Regards
