That's nice! Makes a change from a weathered Steam loco.

It's a pity that the there was only one prototype for the V300.... so all the versions that Marklin released so far shared the same running nos.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

Does any of these stores have a facility for ordering online from another country (eg the UK), and paying by credit card or PayPal?

It doesn't look like it to me!

Thanks, Tom.

I went through all the registration procedure on the Märklin Store Hamburg web site, but I still can't get to a place where I can enter payment using a credit card or PayPal. The site is uncompromisingly in German, and the Google translator fails on this site, so I found it very hard to understand how to place an order.

What I think it is saying is that I have to pre-pay, but I can't find out how to do this without confirming the order and committing myself to whatever terms they require. Also, the site doesn't seem to make any charge for postage, so I think it assumes that I am going to visit the shop to collect the item. Too difficult for an Englander!

I've given up for now!

Best wishes,

Nigel

Sorry, my fault, they don't accept credit cards or paypal (should have read your post more carefully Blushing ).
And Euro money transfers from the UK can be expensive (but that depends on the bank).

You have to ask for the postage rates to countries outside Germany. They ship with DHL and I hope they only charge what they pay (maybe less since shipping inside Germany is free above 200 Euro value).

Yes, they are very expensive.

I'll see if one comes up on eBay, or maybe I can find one on my trip to the Köln Messe in a couple of weeks.

Thanks for your help anyway!

Anders is right - with a slightly rusted undercarriage weathering is rather conservative, here. But such is a matter of taste, of course Glare
What's way more impressive is that price tag. €479 !!!!!! for a lonesome diesel banger is out of this world. Talk about hyperinflation ThumbDown

Hi John. Looking at the cost and the fact that it is only available in a few German stores means I will not buy. I presume Marklin only want to sell it in Germany anyway.

dave
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

I don't know why Marklin bother with these one-offs. The high cost of producing these hand finished items means they have to put the price really high, which means they can only sell a handful of them.

I know, there are some on this forum who especially look for these limited items, but if Marklin want to pay the bills they need stuff they can sell in the thousands, not a few to rich collectors. They should restrict these specials to a "once a year" item, which would then have more demand because of reduced supply.

Märklin's way out of insolvency: they got 10 million Euro cash by reducing their stock.

I presume the locos were already made, lying in the warehouse.
They took them out, made them dirty, put a new sticker on the box.
Sounds like a good move to me.

MHI convention locos require more labour: new livery, new manual, new box.
Not much to be done about the livery for the new BR 005 coming for this year's convention.

I am not impressed by that weathering either.

There are people who will buy these (some people have to have one of everything produced) so if Märklin can make some money out of this to ensure its existence I am all for it.
