Hello all,

I got 2 box Marklin Train I am looking for information about, thanks in advance :

. this first one is completed, very good conservation (as new), it's a clockwork train Marklin HO, Réf. S 873/1, dated 1953 ;

. the other is a StartedSet Marklin OO train box (older than the one before I think), Réf. 790/3 (precisely on the inside cover box (middle of the label) RS 790/3 -) 100/14.
Regarding this last collector box, I do not know if it is completed or not, and would like to confirm it with someone, thank you very much in advance

Hi CMD,

First of all welcome to the forum. The last starterset you are writing about, the one including a RS 790 locomotive, should also consist of one lowsided freight car 364, one log freight car 372, one closed banana wagon 382, 2 straight and 12 curved pieces of track, one transformer 260 and some instruction papers.

Here is a picture of my set:

My set has a open freight car 371 instead of the log freight car 372.

Another thing. You can see when your set was made by looking in the bottom left corner of the paper on the backside of the cover:

Mine is from August 1948.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards,
Thor

Hi CMD
Welcome to the forum
In the 1950 catalog (french edition) you may find on page 15 the content description of set 790/3 as depicted by Bayer, with the log freight car 272.

The other set, the S 873/1 was the only clockwork set that Marklin produced. It comes in a red starter box with a yellow tray with inserts for one S 870 clockwork locomotive and tender, two 327/2 (red) cars, a clockwork key, and I think 12 or so pieces of clockwork track (no center rail).

Best regards,

William

Thank you Steven (Stephen) and each of you, I tried to check M-tracks to see with Steventrain's photo and it seems that the ones of my OO Box (RS 790 set) could be
1947/1949 (3rd of your choice cf photo) or 1949/1950 (4th of your choice cf photo)...
The only thing I can not see with your picture/photo is the two small holes on each side parallel rail (because of the Blue color background).
If you want I can also send you a photo of the concerned M-tracks, just give me your mail in return.
Nevertheless, in the box are figures that gave the date of the production "TN 08481" which seem to say that date is 08.1948 (August 1948)

Best regards
