oh dear oh dear
yes they have a problem and they know about it so you don't have to ring them
and they are working as fast as they can to sort out that when last year happened
someone in the insider club didn't process ALL last years subs yet marklin still
kept the faith and sent them to most of us
They are having problems processing including mine and i wonder if it is their
bank process that is the problem rather than them as i can process sales for
all around the world from here no problem but thats NZ, way ahead on eftpos and banking !!
insider club
so you doubt the value , again 12 mags, one fat catalogue just arrived two dvds and a club car
but above all Information direct from marklin, 5 years of plans archive, tech advice, scenery ideas and what others
are doing in the world all that for 109.00 us dollars thats thats 9.08cents a month !!
come on thats value for money and finally access to a select group of models made especially
for insiders I know guys that pay 250.00 a year to belong to car clubs and they don't get anything
return value like simply if you want keep up with what's coming in marklin its the way to go
see you in wellington guys and there are cheap fligths if you australian mates want to drop over
and wgtn airport is only 20 mins from the show and this show would be one of nz best shows
you know just tell mother you are going to see a mate and you will back about 10.00pm
happy modelling

I got my 2010 membership card yesterday.. The letter is dated 9/6/2010 and the card expires 1/1/2011.. Fortunately, the card has no value down here so its late delivery is no big deal, but I am impressed that they have managed to find a delivery channel that takes a letter 5 months to get from Germany to Australia.. By the way there is still no sign of Insider pack 5/2010..
Why, in the 21st Century, can't Marklin offer a webpage to renew your membership.. Why is it managed in this 1950s way??

So Bryan, did you receive a catalog for the MMRC this year? We got the forms late, but I think they were sent to Dion.

Hi David
yes I think we have it covered a pile of catalogues
arrived with the delivery so we are bringing them with
us to the show, and we also got the latest 2011 faller
catalogue arrived and they have brought back a lot
of the old favourites including a whole swiss section
and st martins gate and the town wall sets as well
a whole bunch of new stuff
looking forward to catching up with you all and a brake
from the shakes now over 2000 aftershocks, they finally
got into dick smith manchester for 5mins this week the
first chance since the 7.1 thats 10 weeks its been locked
down with probally 1/2 mill stock unable to accessed
so its been hard for the staff including our daugther
who is management not to mention customers stuff
they have a webcam setup just google "manchester courts"
and you watch the demolition in action except for today
is chch show day

Why join something that doesnt bother to take time to give you a decent service. This has been the same for the past few years. There are dozens of posts like your post with the same or similar problems. Is it any wonder this firm went bust.
They would be better just having the club in Germany as the rest of us have the forum.
Given the Insider Club or a Marklin Forum I know which I would choose ... and yes its free and there are lots of nice helpful people.

Thanks for the response. I just wanna pay my bill. I got my insider "ALAK" H0 car and the 2010/2011 Catalouge set. I guess I wait for a week or so to see if they debit my card, else I'll send them an old fasion letter, I'm considering to have done in German. It's a shame it gone that way, I don't complain about the price or value for money. And when I read what the folk from Down Under has to cope with, I realise how quick the service is here in Europe.

I will wait and see what is gonna happen for the next week at the most, else way I'll a letter.

Hi All
,
I am a memeber of Märklin Insider Club (at least I paid for that...) since 04/30/2010, and I'm trying to contact someone at Märklin Insider for a couple of questions, so following the advices I found in this thread in the past weeks I wrote:
- twice to 'insider-club@maerklin.com'
- once to Brenda @ marklin.com (without spaces!)
but till now I had no response
. What I'd like to know is if these email addresses are still valid, and if there is some other address I could try.
Thanks and kind regards.

You can try the contact forms.
English site:
http://www.maerklin.com/en/contact.html
German site:
http://maerklin.de/de/kontakt.html
You could use the German form and use the English form only to read the labels. Include your membership number in the "Regarding"/"Betreff" field.

This issue about the insider club has been raised before in another thread by myself last year.
It seems nothing has changed in the insider club office. It amazes me that a company of Marklin's size can allow a department to be run so poorly. Surely, there is someone who is ultimately responsible for its operation.
What Marklin needs is a QA officer. This is nothing to do with quality control - it's quality assurance. QA is all about setup procedures in a work force to mark it function more efficiently. Obviously, there is no written procedure manual for this department, otherwise all the problems would have been ironed out by now. So, what really needs to be done is to investigate where the "blockage" in the system is occurring - identifying it and "clearing" it away so that the department can become reliable, efficient & importantly profitable to the company.
From my experience in management, I would say that the current staff is to blame. Either they "pull their sox up" or "ship out" - there are plenty of people unemployed looking for a good job. This is a business not a charity. Afterall, the ones who ultimately suffer is the customer and that's us and that's why the price rose sharply this year - to cover the cost of the inefficiency.
I feel better that I said all this.... Sorry to rant and rave - but I have a thing about production efficiency and when I see this type of inefficiency, especially from a Germany company, it makes me mad.
Take it easy . . . . or any other way you can get it !!!!

youngagain, being in a business where customer satisfaction is one of our main goals, I totally agree with you.
I only hope that someone at Märklin (or near to Märklin...) can read these rants and make something to fix this lack of communication.

This has come up before time and time again, I just had a little rant in another topic. re 10tf anniversary.
approx 75 % or more of insiders are in Germany 20 percent in the EU, 2.5 % In the US and rest of the world.
German edition of both magazine have more pages and content. Marklin Magazine about twice as many and the Insider 8 pages more.
about 2-3 years ago things were reasonably good for ONE year. we were getting mailing arriving 14 days after Germany got theirs then it went back to the bad days of 3 to 6 months.
It will get no better

I have just noticed this thread and my position with the Insider Club is that after 3 years membership i have yet to recieve a single catologue, wagon of the Year or anything else.
I do get the magazine and i have contacted them more times than i can remember, both by post and phone but nothing has happened.
I've basically given up but i do enjoy the magazine so i'm reluctant to cancel, but i would love the other benefits.

Single catalogue? The coupon mean full HO/Z/1 scale catalogues.
Didi you get two coupons (free full HO/Z/1 catalogues and wagon) from 3/2010 mailing package?
Have you send coupon to Dealer such as Au Pullman?

As Stephen wrote: you should receive coupons for catalogue and wagon of the year. Coupons must be brought (or sent) to a dealer (these items are free).
Coupons are sent along with the Märklin Magazine and the Club News.

Yes i got all the vouchers over the years.
The first year i sent the vouchers to AU Pullman in Paris but got nothing back from them, and when i told the insider team nothing happened.
Second year i was advised by insider team to use an agent in La Rochelle near my home in the Charente (agent name,Les Geants de la Minature) and sent them my vouchers and waited with baited breath, but nothing happened so again contacted team who asked me to send them photcopies of the vouchers i sent to this agent, and guess what ,nothing happened and no comeback from the team when i rang to ask if if something will happen.
This year sent to another agent, this time with some confidence as the insider team said he will be reliable,( agent Jouetec Modelisme in Floriac) and they have had them some time and as yet once again nothing.
Contacted Insider team via e-mail virtaully weekly with no contact back,so it looks like i'm stuck
Thanks for your advice steven ,it does read like a catologue of disasters, but i do enjoy the magazines so i would'nt like to cancel my subscription

You guys are saints. Your loyalty to a club that ignores you is amazing. If you are outside Germany join Juhans outsiders and with the cash you save buy something from Marklin that you can enjoy and is useful.
You can get the magazine without joining the Insiders.

After you have sent the coupons to the dealer , in some cases you have to chase the dealer. Some receive the items BUT DO NOT inform the customer, so it may be possible that all of your items are waiting for you at the dealers.

I already got the free 2010 wagon and free catalogue from Lokshop last October.
UK dealer Gaugemaster already have the 2010 wagon (26/11/2010) Full catalogues (05/11/2010) free goes to UK Insider Club members Report from Gaugemaster RSS feed website.
Why french dealers nothing have it?

Just to finish concerning my insider problems ,i chase up the vouchers i've sent to the agents but they expertly get around what they've done with the vouchers, though admit recieving them.I'm constantly chasing these people but in the end life's too short to spend costly telephone money chasing them,(basically fed up doing it)
One agent said that he makes no money at all dealing with the vouchers,as i do not spend other money in his shop.He does'nt understand that i would if he showed a bit more reliability.
Anyway in France there are so few agents about dealing with Marklin.
i know that if I ever win big on the Euro lottery the first thing i would honestly do is buy into, or rescue Marklin. It needs a massive shake up, and there is so many untapped markets around the world that it would at last be profitable.
Its the world leader in Quality model trains, its just getting the message out there and sorting out the manufacturing process.
One Day you never know.

Kevin, just to let you know, the situation here in Italy is not so different: it took almost two years to me only to become a member of Märklin Insider, and the tale isn't finished yet.
I have to say that my dealer is very helpful and is doing its best to solve some problems, while the local (Italian) Märklin importer is totally useless
.
Anyway I'm still waiting my Insider Club Card and the Annual Wagon (let's hope in Santa...
)

Most organisations dream of loyal customers like this, but not Marklin.. Sigh! I have not seen 5/2010 yet and Steven already has 6/2010...
Just recived mine today as well the 5th edition from Sept. I am amazed at the pigeon pace this has been sent and quite frankly disgusted. Time for spam letters which will be coming to all lot within Maaaaaaaaaaaaarklin. A disgrace

just so you are clear the local dealer does NOT run the insider club
Marklin usa used to run it but its now being transfered to germany
they found no one had been charged for last year so hence a lot
are being charged for two years and they are having to contact
people as the old records they had peoples cards have been updated
so the old card record was no longer valid. they are having to work
through quite a mess but they want to get it right
the key thing is the cards sent out have to go back to marklin
a for the order and b so they know when you are due for your 5 or 10
year car or loco
If any of you kiwis have a problem email Dion on our website as we
have a special contact person in Marklin that can chase up dropped
memberships make sure you give him your membership no
okay merry christmas and enjoy the snow in the northern parts
I was just watching a utube of the irish in dublin sliding down bushy park
really great fun had by all

Bryan. If you would like some snow I will gladly fax some over to you as we have had more than enough of the stuff.
Re Marklin, in my view what is much better than any insider type club is a good dealer who assists their customers (like your goodself)and is happy to have a blether with their customers and discuss problems. We did have a dealer like that not far from me but when the owner died so also did the shop which was a great shame.
Have a great Christmas and hope the shop does well at this important part of the retail year.
dave
Take care I like Marklin and will defend the worlds greatest model rail manufacturer.

I see that they have taken the money off my card for the 2011 year.. At least delivery, such as it is, will not be interrupted during 2011.. I might even have a chance to order the insider model this year if the forms arrive on time!

Marius,
Membership is date driven, 12 months from the day you joined.
AS you joined in 2011 I believe that you will not qualify for this years Yearbook and Insider car/wagon.
May get a coupon to order the Insider Loco.

One who joins before March 30 should get all these benefits. I joined in March a few years ago after M* confirmed that I'd be able to order the insider loco - and it worked.
Took some e-mails though because in the beginning not all mailings arrived in time (my personal membership year starts in September coz it took 'em six months to enter my address into their membership database).

Tom

We will see if the Insider Club administration efficiency has improved. I do understand why members have to experience so many problems in dealing with the administration department of Insider Club. Being mindful of all the complaints on this post, regarding the Insider Club administration errors, i made extra effort and typed all of my application information very carefully into the online application.
I believe it is a computerised (automatic) procedure to trasfer the application data onto the database. Let's see if all goes well i.e. no data capturing errors.

I will not renew Insider member for 2011 because there is more Ex-Insider models in the new items 2009-2011 such as 37052 BR05 and 39391/2 BR39 at at about 20% less price that Insider loco.
The fund goes to buy new items 2011 items, I hope another new BR50 after 2011 Insider BR50.40

I assume it is thus possible to “skip” membership for an indefinite time and then to rejoin when you want to?

You pay for one year - and you can terminate your membership (I think the deadline is six weeks before the end of the membership year).
In the past you had to join in the first quarter of a year. Now you can join any time of the year.
So you can join in February if you like the Insider model.
You can then terminate in December if you don't like the Insider model of the following year.
Outsiders can buy the Insider models on eBay (but Insiders normally get better prices (not advertised on the Internet)).

Tom, where do insiders order their "insider model"; from their normal supplier or from Marklin direct?
