I accidently typed in the url as www.märklin.de and found a different site, not an official Märklin website. Apparantly the .de-domain has opened for non-english characters (like ü, ä ö) and someone grabbed it.

AND NOW THE URL DOESN'T WORK ANYMORE!!!

http://www.maerklin.de just works. The Umlaut characters do not work. So www.märklin.de will not work. Perhaps you have hit a ghost url. That is a url that looks like www.sitea.com (a very common URL) but when you hit it you go to www.siteb.com (an unwanted URL).

1. Umlaut-Domains do exist.
2. Internet Explorer can't handle them (unless you install a plugin)
3. märklin.de is registered to Märklin in Göppingen (at least since September 8 - may have been someone else before that).

Tom

Me again: www.märklin.de actually stands for www.xn--mrklin-bua.de
They invented a new encoding scheme for Umlaut-Domains.
www.märklin.de is simply redirected to www.maerklin.de

No problems here. http://www.märklin.de just redirects to http://www.maerklin.de
