Hi all,

I have been considering a diesel Locomotive for some time, and really like the V160 family. I have an old BR216 (3074) from way back.

I'm looking at either the BR210 (#39189) or the BR218 (#39180). I want to use it as an allround loco. Including express trains, freight and cummutor trains (Silvercoins - with control cab).

From my descibtion it sounds more like a BR218. But I like the idea the Gasturbine in the BR210 a lot.

Anyboby who has both?
Is the sound very different in the two models?

Regards
Kenneth

First off,

Recommended read for this subject is this fairly recent thread:

I would say 39189 would have the more imposing sound. If you prefer this, go for it.
But if you're happy with BR218 - you got more options to choose from (39180/1/2/3).
Now collecting C-Sine models.

Thanks, I think I get BR210 anyway. I only have steamers with full sound at the moment. I also got very interested in the new SBB bavaria set, then it would make some sense with the BR210, as an alternative loco. I guess my question is really, what have the BR210 been used for, apart from TEE Bravaria?

I have ordered the BR 210 with gas turbine...just last week. as my dealer told they are still available.
Yes they were on service with Bavarian coaches . I don't think they have been pulling Bavarian coaches all the time...what kind of other coaches, may be ?

Glad you are enjoying your BR 210, I have been very happy with mine as well.

I just got the 43859 TEE Bavaria passenger car set to go with it and looks very nice. It looked fine pulling my old 24cm coaches too. I think it will look fine with anything a 218 would pull.
