I am going to be in Houston at the end of March. Any dealers/shops to visit?

Thanks,
John

Smile Hi John, yes according to www.marklin.com, then see store locator for Texas
and you will see two in Houston. It gives their names, addrs, phone and website.
Enjoy, Peter

Hi John,

I live in Houston. AFIK there are no stores carrying Märklin. There is a huge model train store called Papa Ben's Train Place (http://www.papabens.com/), but again, AFIK, they don't carry Märklin.

Have a nice stay in Houston! And don't miss the rodeo!

If you can make a 5 hr road trip north to Dallas, My dealer "Collectible Trains and Toys" has a Small selection, with a few new products.

Whenever I check the Marklin USA web site they always seem to list places that have never really carried any Marklin. Or maybe for a short time. Minneapolis and San Diego are two other places with dealers listed (when I looked) that turned out to be nothing except a few old left overs or less.

Answering my own quote - Obviously, Mike's place in New Jersey, the place in Manchester, Ct and Hartman's in New Hampshire qualify as real dealers. There's a guy (Duxbury Green I think) in Duxbury, MA that has a fair amount of stuff. He's weird though. Has a lot of stuff piled up behind the counter but wouldn't let me back to look. Asked me what I wanted - he would get it. I couldn't see that far. Now 2 50 + year old men - does he think I'm going to steal or wreck the place? He did offer me 4 freight wagons out of a starter set at a good price that I took. Come to think of it, I going to go back and confront him on the issue - he may have something older and cool laying around. He has a lot of stock piled up everywhere (mostly non Marklin) and doesn't seem to care if he sells or not.

And of course, while in Dallas, you have to visit the Railway Museum where you can admire, among other things, one of the surviving Big Boys and the Pennsy GG1!

I live in Houston also and Armando is correct, the two former dealers are gone. There are, however, several Marklin layouts and other good hobby shops in addition to Papa Bens which is not as huge as it once was.

welcome,

Tex
