OK, so here i am, board finally down, firm, rigid, level.....1,82m X 1,2m....lot's of m track available, 4 loco's, all serviced and repaired, (c1960/70's),4 30va transformers, (all strictly analog), metres of wiring, control boxes 7072 at the ready, but no plans "bursting forth", i know i want a station,, and some shunting yards, and some nice "express" ovals.......any ideas anyone?? i don't have a turntable, or space for reverse loops, so this could b a prob? I know there must be someone out there with access to some sort of track planner to fit max amount of track on such a small layout..

Hello Joe.

Perhaps this from the track plan book 0352. since the size given are not that big.

Joe, see my post of 24 September last year in this thread: https://www.marklin-user...osts&t=12093&p=2

In that thread are some links to some of the old Marklin trackplan books which you can download.

Joe,

From my experience with my current layout, I picked a plan out, then set it up and ran trains for a while, figured out what I didn't like, modified it, and kept going until I was happy. It worked well for me.

Grab the Marklin track plan books the Big Daddy posted, and pick one you like. They are a good start. Don't be afraid to modify it to fit your space and how you like to operate it.

Thanx everyone for the sound advice and pics, i have picked a plan, and am changing it to suit my board, working well so far....a 2-line main station, 2 "ovals", 1 siding, and a goodly size shunting/fiddle yard.....will keep you informed as to my progress. I almost find the planning and layout the most exciting, from past experience, once i've operated for a while, the bug starts biting for some changes again!, and up go all the carefully laid track pieces! ah, the joys of marklin model trains....!!
keep on track

Sounds good Joe.

The planning phase is indeed one of the most exciting - and all you really need is some inspiration (this website!) and a PC with some software :)
