Hi all,

I'm in the process of programming a very small digital layout with railroad & co 4.7. Everything seems to work fine with my engines with märklin decoders, but my 3 engines which have a tams LD-W-3 decoder give problems:

They cannot use successor schedules. They start a first schedule as they are supposed to, but when they reach the end of the first line/schedule, they somehow 'miss' the command for the second/succesor one. The engines stop while railroad & co reports them as started with the second schedule. Engines with märklin decoders have no problem whatsoever.

I already tried playing with the send delay setting in RR&co without success.

Is this a known bug for the LD-W-3 decoders? Am I doing something wrong here? Are there maybe workarounds?

Any help appreciated,
Bert

Never heard of, however, I'm not using Tams. Maybe you have played too much with the brake compensation and/or acceleration/deceleration parameters in RR&Co, for the Tams engines? The use of virtual indicators could also cause some interesting features. In case of no success here, I would recommend that you post this issue in the http://www.freiwald.com/forum/?language=english forum ...OK, I can see you have done that already [:p]. Have you set the threshold speed for the Tams engines?

Thanks for your reply,

On closer inspection and trial i found out it COULD have to do with the virtual contacts, (i use only one actually). I changed the virtual contact distance and the problem went partially away. However it seems that the tams decoders are much more sensitive to it than marklin decoders.

This afternoon i tested with my newest purchase (37961, a marklin br96) and it also had the problem sometimes. All my delta engines did not have problems at all.

Threshold speed is set for all engines

Is a very slow computer also a cause for these problems?

Right now I use a pentium 100/32 mb ram/win 98, but next week i'll receive a pentium 200 mmx from a collegue.

I have found the cause of the behaviour I described earlier, it has NOTHING to do with tams decoders, that was a pure coincidence.

This is what happens: when the controls of a loco are assigned to my digital system (my marklin 6021 + 6051) and i start a certain schedule for that loco, it starts the first schedule normally but stops when it is supposed to execute a succesor schedule.

When I assign controls of that same loco to RR&co the schedules behave like they should.

Is this intended behaviour or is there something wrong? I would like to permanently assign control to my marklin 6021 because my layout is partially manually controlled (it's a 'kopfbahnhoff' and i have to move the loco to the rear of the train). When control is assigned to the marklin 6021 i can immediately take the loco in manual control, otherwise i have to first deselect it or assign it to the 6021, a lot of hassle. Shunting by dragging the slider on the screen is not so practical.

I hope you understand what i mean.

Another thing I noticed and wanted to know: Does RR&Co support absolute direction control for marklin? All my decoders are capable of that (mot. II) but it doesn't seem to be on in RR&co. Or is this a limitation of the 6051? With my 'kopfbahnhoff' i have to be very carefull in what direction i leave my trains, absolute direction control could help here.

In my understanding 6021+6051 does not support passing on the absolute direction information. This means that if you take an engine to manual control, and change its direction with 6021, the computer still thinks it is set to the original direction, and forward becomes backwards, etc.
