Hi Charles,

Absolutely, this was a very special item, only produced for a limited number of Swiss Märklin shops in 2007. The series was limited to only 999 locos and sold out rapidly. If you're prepared to pay a slight premium over the advised retail price, you might still be able to get it though... At the time, the model was discussed extensively in this forum, the search will probably bring up some interesting results.

Here's a page dedicated to this model in Dutch (translation online should be doable)

Mr Fortkord aka fit991 is a well known unofficial eBay dealer of things Maerklin.

He ships from Germany but asks that the money for shipment outside the EU be sent to the USA.

Maerklin made the following models in the last few years:
Ae 6/6
37361 Ae 6/6 Canton Lok "Vaud" (Catalog Model)
37362 Ae 6/6 Canton "Luzern" (Green) and City Lok "Langnau" (Red)
(50 Years Ae 6/6)
37363 Ae 610 492 "Erstfeld" (Ae 6/6 11492 125 Years Gotthard)

Re 4/4II
37342 Re 4/4II Set of two loks (Note: Incorrect Railings)
37346 Crossrail Re 436 (Re 4/4III) and Shunter (Coming 11/2009)
37356 Re 4/4II 11239 "Porrentruy" (150th Anniversary of Maerklin)

They have also released some Swiss only Start Sets composed of items already available in the regular catalog.

Before you bid on the Ae 610 on eBay, check Swiss dealers for remaining stock and consider either the Hag Model (recently on sale at TEE-USA) or the Roco model.

Other than fit991 not being an official Maerklin dealer, I have had no problems with this dealer.

Regards

I think it depends on what you need...

If you must have a factory painted 11492 "Erstfield" with factory decal of "125 jahree Gotthardbahn" go for the Marklin or HAG model. I think the HAG is still slightly more expensive, but the difference is not huge.

Otherwise, if you just want Ae 6/6 (Ae 610) in SBB Cargo colour go for the Roco model as it offers the best value..

Of course you can wait for Marklin 2010 New items.. might see an Ae 610 SBB Cargo there (if they're smart enough to realize its sales potential).
Would sell quite well as a pairing to the upcoming 37321 I reckon.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

Hag 11079-31 SBB Ae 610 492 AC Digital on sale at tee-usa.com for $499.99. The Hag model has the upgraded wipers and railings and can be had for less than the original price of the Maerklin lok. How often do you see deals like this? Especially with the low US$ this is well worth it.

I have no connection to this dealer other than as a customer.

Regards
