I am experimenting with the generic steam sound project which I downloaded from the ESU site into a LokSound v3.5 decoder. I manged to get it working except for one small detail; when I tried to synchronise the chuffs to the wheel revolutions I could not follow the instructions in the manual as I cannot get any chuffs happening at speed step 1. The loco moves but it does not chuff. I can however get chuff at all other speeds.
I managed to get a reasonable synchronisation using speed steps 2 and 3 instead of 1 and 2 so that is ok, but what do I have to do to get chuffs at speed 1?

Hi Hobbit, Check that CV57 is not set to 0. Default for steam is 20. If set at 0 it is expecting trigger from a wheel sensor. 0 is also default for Diesel.
This info below from Loksound manual V3.5 cv57. Sound mode 1 Multiplied by 0,64 is the time in seconds 0-127 between two chuff sounds at speed step 1. Value 0 indicates that period between LokSound exhaust chuffs is controlled by a wheel sensor Steam: 20 Diesel: 0
Regards, Brian.

For the best synchronisation I had to set CV57 to 42 for the 3 cylider BR01 and CV is also set to 42. The speed curve is set to manual 28 steps. Step 1 has a value of 1, Step 2 = 2, 28 = 140 |

BR 01 has two cylinders (four chuffs per rotation). BR 01.10 has three cylinders (six chuffs per rotation). |

Thanks. I meant to write BR01.10. So I will change it to six instead of three chuffs by halving the value in CV57. Still leaves the problem with no chuffing at speed step 1.

Is there chuffing at very low speed in real life? Quote:[size=1" face="Verdana" id="quote]quote:Originally posted by Hobbit <br />Thanks. I meant to write BR01.10.
