I have just obtained a very old Marklin Locomotive a "TM 800" This is an early version of the BR 80 which is crying out to be restored. I desperately need a spare-part list and unfortunately cannot find one in the maerklin.de site.

I am attaching two photos of this model for your perusal.

Rather than putting in a new "Reversing Unit" I was thinking of putting in a suitable decoder - thus converting it to digital operation at the same time.

Can you help?

Hello There:

If you need help - try this link and try to get in touch with "Helmut" http://curthel.com/

He is probably one of the people who can help you. He grew up in Germany after the war and is a great technician for Marklin.

He is located in Wyoming - so take that into account !!

Yes, Helmut can help you with the spare parts, just send him the picture explaining clearly what you need (to him or another dealer) and you will get your proper spare parts.
You can install a Profilok PD-101 to use your AC motor, it works well.
See the topic "repaint an old loco" in painting and weathering, there you can see my experience with an old BR 23
