Is anyone familiar with this lok? I'd never seen one before so I was curious of era and any history. Also I understand that Hag loks are quite impressive as well, yes?

I can vouge for the quality of HAG. I've only seen this model in catalogue photos though- does anyone have a pic of the real thing?

I've been debating buying one myself

There were two Bm 4/4II in service with the SBB. They were built as Am 4/4 1001 and 1002. Later they were renumbered Am 4/4 and later Bm 4/4II* 18451 and 18452. They were built in by SLM, BBC and Sulzer 1939 and modernized/upgraded in 1963 and 1964. The loks had a top speed of 75km/h and were based in Olten and Winterthur.
The II behind the Bm 4/4 denotes that the loks are a different series than the Bm 4/4 18401-18446 that went into service starting in 1960.

Today, the surviving Bm 4/4II is used to haul historic charter trains but can still be used in case of failure of the electric network for emergency traction. The lok is based in Olten and is owned by SBB Historic: www.sbbhistoric.ch

The HAG model is made using the SPS Technology system and the shell is placed on a modified frame belonging to the HAG Re 4/4I model.
The first series had a few minor issues that have been corrected in the subsequent production run.

thanks for the information. I did not mention the Bm 4/4 other than to differentiate it from the Bm 4/4II that was being discussed.

Bm 4/4s are stationed in most Swiss stations and yards and perform shunting duties for freight and passenger trains as well as for emergency traffic during blackouts.
