Is there someplace online I can do some price checking? I¡¦ve got an opportunity to pick up some vintage Marklin stuff, but no way to determine what a decent price is. The seller wants an offer, not how I typically like to do business, but regardless of who makes the first move, I still need to have a ballpark to play in. ƒº

I¡¦ve done some checking and what I have found seems dated.

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mike,

As far as I know there is no place online where you can check prices out. When you say vintage, what do you mean? If it is the 800 series locomotives and the 300 series wagons, you can maybe find something on www.liveauctioneers.com . You just need to sign up and then can you see all the sold items and what they sold for. eBay.de may also be a solution.

Hope this helps.

Regards,
Thor

Koll's price guide would be a good place to start but try to get a new one as the prices have dropped on some models in the last few years.

I would say all of the above plus eBay Germany and USA are good starts.

Kolls priced catalog (German text) is the "bible". Not cheap though -the 2009 full catalog costs about 90 Euros or about $125 USD.

Thanks everyone! I think I got most of what I needed.

Well, here is what I had to go on from the seller:

I have several tracks and misc. Not all the items are in the original box, but most are
I have the little book that was inside the boxes for the locos and parts
And I have a copy of the original invoice from Model Craft Hobbies in New York

Catalog 1968/69 SP
Catalog 1969 SP
Catalog 1964/65 ES

Locomotives
2815 (set) , 3000, 3021, 3047, 3060-4060, 3005

Passenger cars
4029, 4026, 4024, 4048, 4073, 4049, 4502, 4503, 4520, 4513, 4621, 4618, 4571

I wasn't able to find anything on the 2815 set, but the rest of the rolling stock prices out to about $400 on the liveauctioneers and or baseportal. I have not seen the items, so I have no idea on condition or what tracks and misc. is specifically.

Quite honestly, I think I'm more interested in going newer and digital and I know I’m more into freight than passenger trains.

Thoughts?

Thanks,
Mike
