Hi all.
I'm back from and interesting 3-days trip around Mont Blanc. There are some narrow gauge railways that can compete with the most famous ones in Switzerland... A few pictures of what we've done:

The trip starts from Milan, we arrived from Bologna with an Intercity:

Then, from Milan to Brig with this ETR470 painted in the new Cisalpino livery:

From Brig we took an IR train to Geneve and went to Martigny.

In Martigny there is a narrow gauge railway that brings to Le chatelard, Chamonix, St.Gervais. We started from Martigny with this train... a nice SNCF Z800 set...

The trip with this train shows amazing landscapes...

In Vallorcine rack ends, so we had to change train. A Z850 set carried us to Chamonix (note the third rail near the tracks!):

Second day: From Chamonix to Montenvers, with another narrow gauge railway, owned by Compagnie du Mont Blanc.

This journey is as unforgettable as the previous one:

Top of Montenvers (1900 m)

The mer de glace glacier, just near the top station. It's sad to see that in last 30 years its level lowered by 100 meters or more! [:(]

Next day we planned to come back in Italy by the Mont blanc glacier cableway and to experience Val d'Aosta railways, but we couldn't because of the wheater and came back by bus by the Mont Blanc tunnel[xx(]. Anyhow, it has been a journey that I recommendù!

Regards,
Pietro
