I have looked at the picture of the marklin k83 turnout decoder and was wondering if you can attach a separate AC power source to this unit so that it does not use the digital power (like the viessman 5211 decoder)? I can't find any documentation regarding this.

Also, does anybody have any experience with the LDT S-DEC-4-MM-B 4 turnout controller? Is it worthwhile as a replacement for the marklin k83 decoder or even the Viesmann 5211 decoder?

Thanks

Francois

Welcome to the forum Francois. Unfortunately you cannot attach a separate power source to the 60830, like you can with the Viessmann 5211/5291 K83's. I don't know if any one has ever modified a 60830 so that it can. That, and the cheaper price, is the reason why I use the Viessmann decoders.

Thanks, I will probably have a look at the Viessman 5211.
