Glenn,

Very nice collection - deserves your beautifully made display cabinet.
Your 3026 sure looks like a BR44 (3027). I also have a BR44 - heavy duty thing. I am also very fond of mine. Cool

Many thanks, yes sorry 3027- you are quite right. Picked this one up very cheap with a box. Has hardly ever been run. Cheers

Could you not just install 6 extra shelves in the "free spaces"? Seems to be just enough room. Could become a weight problem though when (not if biggrin) you fill all of them up.

lol, yes I will consider that. I should have enough room, but I also wanted to leave a little breathing space! I'll see what can be done. Cheerz.

That's the way of beginning... Build the first cabinet, and soon you'll realize it's too small for your collection and build another one... and another...and when you notice you have a great collection. Off you go!

Good one Glenn. Do you have a layout as well?

Humble or not...don't worry!
Every single success story started with a humble beginning.
And since you have good taste and a sense for quality...the rest of the "good stuff" will be forthcoming!
Great looking collection anyway...makes me feel like going back 50 years!

Yes,layout has been recently de-constructed after much frustration and now I have persisted with brand new benchwork. Laying track shortly- will post some pics.

Thanks guys for your fine comments. Even though I'm 33, I just love collecting the old locos, but also enjoy converting newer ones to digital and leaving the SET800 and RET800 as they are. For everyones info, the coal carriages are in fact Electrotren.

Cheers, Glenn Smile

Glenn, do you intend to put some glass in the front to keep the dust out, and the collection in the cabinet? Here of course, earthquakes are always a worry, so I would be looking for some way of preventing items from falling out.

Having said that, you have a great collection, and your woodworking skills look pretty good too!

Thinking of Perspex. Thanks for the feedback. My woodworking skills are still a bit amateurish, but at least the trains are now at a height away from the little fingers of my young boys! Smile
