Hello to all. I point out that I encounter a problem of zingpest on a model TRIX 22027 "Kittel"... The chassis is very distorted and blocks the transmission. Several details break and fall to the dust. I am very sad because this is a model that I love very much. Best, François

I'm sorry to hear that.
That is a 2009/2010 model.
Do I have to fear for my Märklin Kittel 37523 from the same time?
Regards
Tom

The 37522 was produced a few years later than the 37521 and should be okay. But please don't hold me responsible if...
Hi guys,

If you want to repair it the total amount is 66,94 euro + shipping.
Here the broken part replaced.
Any ideas to use them for?
Six years after I take out of the box the loco and it doesn't run.
All gears are broken, plasticpest...
Tried to replace them with the old, but also these are out of order.
All the pieces are now in a box
How about the new model 37526, same quality or better?

Here is a translation of a post from the Stummi community, Germany:

which answers your question.

"Re: Frage zur Märklin Ellok 37521 De 6/6 der SBB - #3
Beitrag von Elokfahrer160 » Sa 8. Jul 2017, 19:27
Guten Abend , scanditrain,
yes, now the zinc plague has hit your Seetal Kroko, mostly the base frame is affected. Usually the brown Seetal Kroko 37521, it probably comes from China. Production period of Märklin from 2002.
Most "affected" models of the 37521 have a serial number "which is marked H 2108..... begins. But there were also some models of the green lake valley Croco 37522 "which were affected. And unfortunately the base frame (part no. 321 289) is no longer available from Märklin.
My brown crocodile 37521 has serial number H 2108898 and is "not yet affected. Use the search function here in the forum under Zinkpest at Seetal Kroko.
The new Seetal Kroko 37526 (with sound) is not affected.
Greetings - Elokfahrer160 /Rainer" [end of quotation]

If you enter the words "märklin seetal krokodil und zinkpest" into Google and select "pictures" you see the whole drama.

I would not be surprised if there were not a few of the later model where the original buyer had an original model with Zinkpest or potentially with Zinkpest and had bought the newer model and swapped the shell. Some of those models might have ended up on auction sites and may be affected by Zinkpest when the buyer might not suspect it.
Check the serial number against the list of affected models just to be sure.
