Hello,
Now that I am able to successfully register MFX locos after updating to the new version of the software, I have come across another problem after the update.

When I shut down the CS2 from the setup screen, it never shuts off.
The shutdown process starts with the orange progress bars. Half way across, the screen goes blank and changes to leaf green in color and stays that way. Happens every time. I left it that way for a few hours and the CS2 was still on. The screen color had changed to a bluish grey. I have to cut the power to shut it down.

When I turn on the CS2 afterwards, it always asks for the language preference.

Your CS2 is OK. When shutting down you will get a green screen. At this point switch off at the mains. There is no on/off switch on the CS2.
Always switch off by going into set up and switching off from there.
I presume you have set your language preference when you first used the CS2.

When you get the green screen you can unplug the power cable.

Yes. When you see the green screen switch off at mains and unplug. This is perfectly normal.
