Hi all,
My V200.1, #39821 is just too loud.
I have a CS1, so tried adjusting the sound level, under Advanced, it is listed as CV63.
I can drop it to level 1, and it makes no difference.
Am I doing something wrong?
According to the instruction book, I can change the sound level with two trim-pots inside the loco. Is that another way, or the only way?
regards
Kimball

Hi Kimball,

Personally, I do not have hands-on experience with this exact model. However, if it is indeed the case that there are two trim-pots inside the loco, the loco does not support software programming as the CS1 does. Hence, the CV 63 adjustment won't work and you will have to open the loco and set the volume by hand instead.

Hi Sander,
Thanks for that.
Yes, I have now opened up the loco (I had to grit my teeth, as it is the first time I opened up a relatively new Märklin), and have adjusted the pots.
It works opposite to the instruction manual, clockwise!
But all is OK now.

I believe the real V200 hydraulic transmission was terribly noisy, and caused the drivers some grief.

Hi Kimball,

Your 39821 has the big C-Sinus motor and sound elektonik inside.

So yes you must change the sound level inside on one of the trim-pots, this is the only way to do it.

Thanks Pål,
Replies within 3 seconds, that must be a record.
Yes, I was pleasantly surprised at how efficiently that model appears to be designed. I ran it without the body, and to see that live motor spinning was amazing. Very similar motors are used in large printers, we have a HP laser model, it has about 10 of that type of motor.
Also, the layout of all the components is nicely done, much more compact than some of my US models. Those plastic models need so much ballast (weight) in them, there is little room left.
By the way, how is Pommes-Paul going? I bought something from him once, and he was very capable.
