Hi all,
I have a smoke generator fitted to a BR 50. It still heats OK, but no smoke, and I guess it is clogged up. I have tried methylated spirits (wood alcohol, or meths elsewhere), with the heat on, and that vaporizes OK.
Does anyone know of a method to clear it up, clean it out, or do I just purchase a new one?
regards
Kimball

Kimball,
If you have the earlier smokegenrators, you should have a very fine wire, that comes with the smokegenerator set.
1 Fluid capsule
1 Pin,
1 extra Gnerator pipe
1 thin wire.
With the thin wire you should be able to insert it into the pipe.
the pipe is also removable.
I don't have any instructions on the newer versions, but I think they are simpler constructed.
Another problems with smokegenerators is the contact.
Rice you contact tongue a bit higher.
Also turn on the smokegenerator function and put your finger slightly oonto the top of the smokegenerator.
It does get quite hot, so be careful.
If it is getting hot you know you've got contact.
You than start with the cleaning process as above.

regards.,

Thanks John,
It is a fairly late model Seuthe set, and I think I remember a packet, I have somehwere, holds the wire. I will follow that up tomorrow, it is a bit late here.

Sometimes, temperature fluctuations can affect the generator contact under the boiler. I remove the boiler, and bend the gen. contact up, to make better contact.

Hi John and spitzenklasse,
Got it working OK thanks, I found the packet, and the cleaning kit and instructions. I have now left a little pair of tweezers with kit. I got it from of a spectacles repair kits you get for $2.
