Hello,
I'n considering a Brawa ski lift to my layout. Anyone having experience with the Brawa 6270, or other funiculars of lesser size?

/Lars

What is it specifically you inquire about.
It looks good on a layout.
It is simple to install.
you have got a Tal & Berg Station.
if you intend to use more supporting pilons make sure the wire is slightly higher than your bottom & Top station, this is after you've lined up the wire with the top & bottom station.

You can do any re-adjustments afterwards (wire)
Your funicular is running on the same principal, make sure the tracks are slightly bent like a bow. the middle part being the highest point.
If I remember correctly there instructions for it, explaining it all.
I have both on my layout.
One I haven't installed as yet, after 24 years is a cable Gondala.
I had in mind to extend this cable car but its not as easy.
The funicular and cable car have the sdame principle, they get to the top hit a lever and the car after a few delayed seconds, returns, whereas the skilift goes around both wheels.

So to extend the Gondala with 2 more gondolas, you would have the extra 2 sitting in middle of a support pilon and more or less doing nothing.
to make it more effective you would have to scratch build a middle station.
I cannot show you any pictures because it prevents me of downloading anything, there is a constant error appearing, regardless of the size of the photo.
to get to the download page it is also a nightmare to figure out what to do.

Great info.
I was wondering if there were any weak points to think about, and specificly if it would be possible to have a middle station lower than the line between the endpoints. If understand correctly that would not work.

Is there a specific angle recommended or is it adjustable? It appears to be a DC motor, so I guess I could control the speed with a decoder if I want. No other suggestions to think about? I do think the ski lift will be best for me as there is little space available.

Well you could use an old Márklin transformer but you would need a AC-DC rectifier.
The angle does'nt matter from point A to point C it is point B (middle section that has to be slightly above the overall line of the wire to be able to run along its groove.
If it is below that line your middle mast would appear to be there for no reasons.
The angle is adjustable, it does'nt matter how deep or high the angle is.
By securing the bottom station into position, you than place your top station in position and after securing the wire, to achieve the right angle, the motor assembly can swing up or down.
The groove of the fly wheel will give you the right wire angle position.
Enjoy your skiing.

A relatively inexpensive solution may be to locate a Z Scale transformer from a Start Set and use it to power the funicular/ski lift.

I have seen a few of these transformers on eBay and at various dealers advertising "open box" items.

Nup.. As the guide and the cable rest on the tower... BUT, if the distance is very short to can eliminate the middle tower...

Hmmm... I thought that it was an A/C motor - at least the one I have runs on A/C.. It IS a very noisy motor. I can't remember the story about the angle, but I seem to remember a range.. I need to find the instructions.. The motor and the idler at the other end have a tilt adjustment..

If you want, I can look for the instructions, scan them and email them to you..

Thanks,
but it seems not to be necessary. I've got good advice (mainly - it works!) and am satisfied with it.
Kind regards,
Lars
