Charles, here is a list (courtesy of Stefan Unholz' website) which lists most (if not all hobby shops) http://homepage.hispeed.ch/unholz/shops.htmlThe list also has Schläpfer Spiel + Hobby Kornplatz 1 7000 Chur but lists it as Hobby Frei I don't know about Brig, but I have heard good things about Anton Furger in Visp and have dealt with Friho in Lenk. You have to contact Friho to arrange an appointment. The best selection will be found in the big cities, ie Bern, Zuerich, Luzern, etc. Consult Stephan's list and see if you will be near any of the shops. If you have ten days, you should be able to fit in a day trip or two. For example, Interlaken is within easy reach of Brig, and Zuerich is a matter of 60-90 minutes from Chur. If you are staying at a specific hotel, you can also order from mail order shops and havc it delivered to you while you are are the hotel. I would recommend using express services or if you use regular mail, planning to have it there when you arrive, so that if it takes a day or two longer, you are still there. Regards and good trip Mike C

I have ordered many items from Anton Furger over mail and he is very good with very good prices. The other mail order I have used is Suter-Megen near Lucerne which is also very good. |

They have a well stocked Shop of Marklin and HAG and other brands as well. I had a huge buy there almost 3.5 years ago. Very good to deal with and very helpful If you look on there Web Site what they show on their price list is in Stock. Nev |

AAAHHHHHH Andre Luyten in Interlarken, what a gold mine of Marklin, lots of stuff that is hard to find elsewhere even if in sun faded boxes he does not take credit cards & speaks little english. I spent a few hours in the shop crawling round on hands & knees looking under show cabinets etc its amazing what I found & ended up spending.
Chur This shop is in the old town square near the station, Another extensive collection of M & Hag speaks english & takes credit cards.
Have a look at the Swiss historical museum at the west station goods yard, about a 1 KM walk from the station away from the main shopping centre. Plenty of books & model layouts to keep you tied up for a day.
Enjoy the trip. Regards Tom in Oz.

Tom, Andre Luyten, apparently he is selling off.

Opps I forgot to mention that the Swiss Museum is at Interlarken. Buhler shop has a very large & expensive selection of most european model train makers. stil worth a look see. Andre Luyten, when I visited a few years ago was getting a little old ageish so I hope his shop collection goes to a well deserved home.

Sorry to my dear friends at the Swiss Rail Society (I am a member), but their shop list is unfortunately meanwhile rather outdated...
André Luyten at Interlaken is indeed currently selling off his model train stock. Inventory is diminishing.

Stefan,
is Mr Luyten clearing his inventory or just thinning it out?

Mike, reports are controversial, but I think he is indeed closing down his train department (due to old age) and concentrating on keeping his souvenir shop in business.
