At http://www.maerklin.com/en/serv...ubmitted&searchtext=, the Märklin website has this to say:
Product Search -
Doing a search with the Märklin product database enables you to find Märklin items quickly. The database has all of the catalog data since 2000/2001.

Would you like Märklin to add data for earlier years?
Do you think they will do it?
Is the expense (of adding to the database) justifiable in terms of encouraging sales of current and new product?

If Märklin did this, I guess they would have to stage the additions, so adding small sections at a time.

What do you think?
regards
Kimball

I think it would be great, but I don't think they'll do it.

Who knows, they might surprise us one day.

I think this is a great way to learn more about all the items that we buy e.g. what should go together and what don't.
So on a business sense this should be another path which translates to more sales and should be explored. e.g. little cost to setup and need minimum sales to cover costs.

I'd like to see Marklin do it too but, like Ray, I don't think they would. Still, more surprising things have happened....

I do not want to be pessimist, but I do not think that Marklin is going to do it because they already have a very nice DVD with all the HO production since 1935 untill 2004 (at least mine stops in 2004, I do not know if they have newer versions). In the DVD there is a complete description of the model, fabrication year, a list of similar models, a thumbnail picture and a big picture, and a database where you can register your own collection. Very well done. But two problems: only in German and the price (a little bit more that 100 Euros)....

Hello,

this database was only sold for one or two years and was a light version (afaik without prices) of the "Modellplan Collection Datenbank" :

http://www.modellplan.de...nueCode/indexSammeln.htm

Numbers and pictures are international Cool text is in german language, very nice, the actual version is > 2008. You can download a free demo version, limited to 29 items.
