Hi,

I think I've read somewhere that in actuality SBB Re 4/4 II never been painted in white/green livery as in Märklin 34345 loco:

Is it true or not that Re 4/4 II existed in this nice livery?

Hi Cem,

It did actually exist, see for example:

Hi: The Märklin 34345 has the same road number as in the picture, 11276. Perhaps there was ever only one Re 4/4 in this livery, and Märklin 34345 was modeled after this singleton.--MM

The Re 4/4II 11276 was painted in these test colors, along with Re 6/6 11655 and 11665 and finally Re 460 083.

After a relatively short period, the Re 460 was repainted red and the Re 420 (Re 4/4II) and Re 620s were repainted in the new SBB Cargo Blue/Red livery.

For a brief period of time, the Re 6/6s were operating without their coat of arms. They were eventually returned to the loks and now sit in the modified position next to the right end cabin.

I believe that SBB Cargo also repainted a former dining coach in this green livery. I don't know exactly what kind of trains that car was used in.

No other rolling stock received this livery, as SBB Cargo decided on the new (final) look for it's rolling stock. The multi shaded livery was a very expensive look to apply and the new one would save money in the long run.

Regards

Yeah, I find it very appealing too. I believe Re 4/4 II in this livery are produced only in 2000 - the very same year SBB used them. I think they will become very much sought after.

Mike hi,

It would be really nice to find a model of that very ex-diner! Smile

In the photo (link in the 2nd post) the loco is pulling a passenger train (express I think).

Correct, the model is indeed produced in the year 2000.

Hi: I have a Roco model of the Re 6/6 11655, and it is very nice. I was unaware that the paint was just a brief test. I have also seen pictures of the Re 460 in this paint, again very nice. Aren't the Swiss busy little beavers!!--MM

Matter of fact, right now, they are conducting tests on a new livery for the Re 460s (Passenger traffic).

Re 460 016

Personally, I do not like this livery. If it was up to me, I would go back to something similar to the test livery of then Re 4/4IV 10104.

http://www.railfaneurope.net/pi...ic/Re4_4_IV/SBB10104.jpg

I could not find a photo from the side with the white stripe.

Mike: I tend to agree with your aesthetic comment on the new livery. My littlest son loves the standard red Re 460 livery, which he calls the "Swiss Cross." I love it too. However, in line with the Swiss being busy little beavers, they also set aside money for continual improvement and maintenance. Thus, things change there even when they seem to be perfectly fine.--MM
