Just curious how many of us put up a holiday layout, what scale, how big and, of course, how long is it up. I began several years ago with an annual Maxi layout until I ran out of room. For the past three years, I've set up a small O gauge layout with mostly pre-war Lionel pieces I've collected over the years. Nothing fancy: just a simple loop with some buildings, street lamps and one signal. But it gives me a chance to "play" with trains once more, without caring if the number of rivets on the toy match the number on the prototype. biggrin It usually goes up just before Christmas and stays up until mid-January.

I must admit... I'm considering this in O gauge -- just kidding, although I'm sure it would raise a few eyebrows. I think I could squeeze the Christmas tree into one of the loops leaving the other two for separate villages. Like I said, just considering the idea... but don't be surprised if I try it sometime soon. Smile

Generally I put G scale under the big tree, although this year I'm also working on a tram line for the small tree in the other room. It'll be a very tight loop of OO track with a mix of converted Corgi diecast trams and my small fleet of kits and kitbashes circulating.

For the last couple of years, I have set up a modest layout on the floor at my parent's place, for the duration of the Kelly Family annual piss-up/chow-down. biggrin

Here's one and another

My neices seem to enjoy the setting up, and the playing.
We now have a Circus Mondolino and Harry Potter set permanently stationed at my parents' place, so multiple train action seems likely this year!
Cheers,
Damon

Hello,

The Christmas is almost here and the holiday layout is taking shape just in time. Two reverse loops, one through and one end station.
It's modular, built from hollow core door panels and 25 mm styrofoam. The benchwork is sawhorse style 2x4 lumber.

Regard,
Juha

I seriously thought about a small C-Track layout under the tree this year but then abandoned the idea.

No big tree this year as I cannot get it down from the roof space. SO a very very small tree inside a small layout with our Christmas train. Going up this morning so photos later.
