I was wondering,if I want to run Trix coaches or goods wagon with Marklin locomotives, what should I look out for and does the wagons Trix make are compatible with Marklin couplers?

Recent Trix coaches and wagons are the same as the Märklin ones. The only difference is the wheelsets and sometimes paint & decoration, although of course lighted vehicles do not have a slider. The couplings are the same. If you are using C Track I wouldn't even bother to change the wheelsets.

Cheers,

Peter.

Often the Trix coaches come with different running numbers, but are otherwise identical in finish to the Marklin ones. Take the '60s blue/cream Rheingold set for example, the models are identical apart from the wheelsets, running numbers, and having a Trix sticker over the Marklin logo moulded into the underside of the floor. This means you can run a six coach train with no duplication rather than only four.

Unless you're using contact tracks (like the ones supplied with the 74920 grade crossing), in that case the quote above is not fully correct. As the Trix wheelsets are insolated, the wheels do not electrically connect both rails and therefore remain undetected. In that case, you'll need to exchange the wheelsets, which is easy and supplied as a free service by many dealers.

Yes, You can use the Trix rolling stock on marklin layout but need to change AC wheels.

Actually the wheelsets *should* have a bridging resistance of 15k ohms which should really be enough to activate an s88 contact track. Resistance might be a bit too much to allow a crossing to work properly though.wink

In terms of wheel profile, the Trix wheelsets will stay on C track perfectly well. You only need to change them if you use contact tracks where the wheelsets complete the circuit.
