Hi All.

Six days away from exhibition and I have turntable problems.

When I started using the turntable for the first time today, I noted that it fed the tracks radiating from it. However it has stopped doing that and it is extremely annoying as I was hoping to be able to use it to shed locos etc. during the exhibition. I have checked continuity and, apart from one, there is no link between the rails on the turntable and the rails feeding off it.

Fortunately I can still bring locos in one one entry road and I can probably bypass an isolating track on another but repairing the problem would be the ideal option. Any ideas anyone?

All the best,
Chris.

BTW, the turntable of a Marklin 8998. Also, I have found that if I lift the end of the turntable if will connect so at least I can run locos onto the shed roads.

OK, problem solved. I realised that I could get at the contacts by removing one of the dummy segments on the out ring. By gently raising each contact in turn all was well except for one contact that had suffered terminal damage before I got the turntable. I will just have to live with that.

I'm glad you solved it, Chris.

It is of course possible to supply the tracks with external power, but in that case you of course need a lot of switches.

Hi Svein.

Well, that is an option as there are not many tracks coming off it and two are powered already. The main problem there is the discrepancy in speed between the TT power supply and the main PSUs. I read somewhere that the controller was designed to run the locos slowly on and off the TT but my experience is that they race across and it is very difficult to centre them. I am planning to put some diodes in line with the output to drop the voltage to a realistic value (slow!).

All the best,
Chris.
