Just wondering, if I was to assemble a 6020, 6051 and the appropriate feedback module would that enable me to run an automated shuttle service (like my old 6600 but digital)? I already have contact tracks on the line to sense trains and I can source an old laptop to control it.

I realise this would only support Motorola 1, but all I'd want on a shuttle service is directional headlights so that would be fine.

Hi,

With a 6051 and a PC you can do far more than a shuttle!
You have just to write some lines of codes.
The instructions for controlling 6051 are given in the 6051 booklet, in Basic (Programme QBasic is available for free on the net).
All my layout was controlled in Qbasic with the 6051 and 6021.
I have no experience with 6020.
Enjoy
Fred

Thanks Fred - I guessed that it could do more but just wanted to check that it would cope with this.

6020 was the original digital central unit before 6021. It didn't have a control unit built in as you used either 6035 or the later 6036 for that, or alternatively use a 6051 and a PC.

Matt:

You can also use a 6050/6051 with your 6022.

Yep - only thing is I want to keep the 6022 for a main layout as it has the point control buttons. I often see cheap 6020/6035 pairings on ebay so if I bought one of those lots I'd end up with a spare 6020, which could then be combined with a 6051.

You could try contacting Clapcott and ask for a copy of his Dos based program to use with the 6051 or 6022. It would be ideal for this application.

Cheers....

Mike.
