Excuse my ignorance here..

I have two locos that really do not respond well to the intellibox, on being a conversion [Roco] and the other a Br 39 Rivarossi.

Both work a dream on a repair track using my old 6021.

Hwver if I use them on the main track and a short ar stall then its reset and sometimnes a while before I get a response.I amso have a Delta 03 that works miles better on the old trafo..

So is it possible to work these two systems in tandem..

AFAIK you can only use the 6021 as a controller with the IB (with the IB controlling the track), but not the other way around.
A 6021 connected to an IB can even control DCC locos.
Many non-M* locos come with pre-installed multi-protocol decoders that support MM and DCC.

You can use the track output of the 6021 to control turnouts. Therefore an IB connected to the 6021 can only be used as a memory, not as a train controller.

I use this setup - and all my locos work fine controlled by my Intellibox.
I had a few minor problems because I had a forgotten 74046 somewhere in the tracks (must be removed for digital operation). Some decoders didn't work at all because I had exchanged red on brown on the track connection.
Do you have enough feeder tracks on the layout? One feed (red and brown) every 2 meters should be sufficient.

If you get the IB to work fine, you can connect the 6021 as a 3rd controller.
Regards
Tom

To clarify what Thomas said, you can get an adapter plug for the IB that will allow you to connect a 6021 to the IB and use it as a third controller.

check that the IB is using Motorola format for the two addresses in question. The display should show an 'm' when that address is selected.

Thanks.

Whats does this connector look like ?

I had rigged the 6021 up with a separate transformer and feed...that did not work. Need a booster too...

Is it known that some lOcos prefer the old controller...

It is a block of white plastic with electrical connectors imbedded. It allows the 6021 to connect to the right side of the IB as if it was a 6036. Any dealer who sells the IB should be able to order it for you.

Hello, Ralph,

when you get the adapter from Uhlenbrock you can connect the 6021 via M* cable 6038 (180 cm) or 6039 (60 cm).
The maximum bus length is 6 metres.

Here you'll find two in Germany:
http://www.google.de/products?q=uhlenbrock+61020

I already ordered from SC99 - they send the invoice immediately and request the money, even if items are not yet on stock (all other dealers I know send the invoice when the items are on stock).
But so far I always got what I paid for.

You'll probably find some dealers not listed with froogle.

Thank you for that most kind offer.

Quite a community this.....

Now I am intrigued having set up some track to test the troublesome two or 3 locos on 6021 and then Intellibox.

A delta Br03 which despite armature cleaning light oil new brushes etc struggles at low speeds and stalls in reverse, works loads better.

More puzzling [and its only 3 out of 50 locos, is why two will intermittently work on Intellibox and if there a sort or stall sometimes take ages or a 're boot' to go.

On the 6021 both work flawlessly.

Do I need a booster, its now quite and extensive line, double tract loop of sorts over 7/8 meters loop, regular feeds on K track but some of the connectors may need a look.

But been using test track I get this difference.

Now if the 6021 will sit alongside the INtellibox via the lead then I suppose job's a good 'un...<font face="Arial]</font id="Arial]<font face="Times New Roman]</font id="Times New Roman]

Thanks I will check...

narrowed it down to 2 now as my 03 it turns out after careful watching has damned awkward problem [it was second hand] the main bolt holding the valve gear in place is stripped so the Walschearts crank slips out of position and locks.

New wheel ..I'll have to send her away to be fixed and get rid of the Delta decoder at the same time..

That works fine, a control point can now be set up the other side of the room.

Some older delta locos seem to run better on it.

Now to the oddities, a Rivarossi loco Br 39 , wont move on Intellibox.Segregate the 6021 to a test track, run the engine, then re start the Intellibox and Ok we go...

Weird...

Re: Rivarossi BR 39:
With IB you can set the protocol for every address. Check the protocol for the BR 39!
The display should show M with direction arrow for MM new, M without direction arrow for MM old, or D for DCC.
Some locos won't move if red and brown wires are switched.
