Hello all,

I will be in Zurich in two weeks with a group of freinds on our way to the Toy Fair in Nuremberg.

I have a list of shops in Zurich. I would appreciate help from anyone with knowledge of the shops to guide us to the best ones. I am fimiliar only with Roundhouse and Franz Carl Webber. We are interested primarily in Marklin HO with some interest in HAG.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Jack

Hi Jack,

There is a Marklin only store, in a side street by the HBf, I forgot the name, but it is worth a visit.

Zuba-Tech (Stampfenbachstr. 14) is located within walking distance of the HBf, across the water and slightly to the left. They have a fair amount of HAG as well.

Eisenbahn Center (Marktgasse 10) is also located within walking distance of the HBf, across the water and slightly to the right. A neat store, because it is small, but has many models on display. It has loads of ambiance! This retailer has HAG as well.

Prices will scare you, and remember that the Swiss have not switched to the Euro.

Cheers,

Charlie

Zurich has many train shops
The nice thing about the place is how easy it is to get from one place to another.
I would recommend you check out roundhouse (www.roundhouse.ch), Stampfenbachstr. 14 as well Zuba Tech (www.zuba-tech.ch)(from the station, leave to the left, cross the Limmat, proceed across the street, pass through the opening in the building straight across and there you are)
You may also want to check out wabu (www.wabu.ch), where you can get a lot of handmade swiss specialty conversions in either AC or DC
If you have the time, take the train to Arth-Goldau, switch to the local train to Meggen, where you will find Suter-Meggen (www.suter-meggen.ch)located right in the train station. From there, you can take the next train to Luzern, where you will find Modellbahn Boutique
(www.modellbahn-boutique.ch). To end your afternoon, you can return to Zurich by train. IF you want an additional list, you can check out the dealer listings at www.maerklin.ch, www.hag.ch, www.roco.ch and other manufacturers.
Have a good time in Zurich/Switzerland. You will find that toy shops are about as common as fast food joints in North America

PS Merci Vielmol means thank you in Zuerirduetsch

Mike and Charlie,

Thank you for the imput. I am aware of Swiss prices. I have been to Zurich several times, but it has been a couple of years and did not want to waste time with shops that did not matter as we only have one day there.

Thanks again for your help.

Jack
