Because the circuitsboard in the locomotiv is an decoder too.
You are forcement by take it out everything and replacement with an new decoder and plus speaker too.
If i´m understanding right,there is contact on the circuitboard for LED lighting too.

I only have a DRG E44 with factory sine motor, not the one you have, but have you checked the polarity of the LED lights connection? Are you sure the series resistances for the LED lights are present in your current wiring? (otherwise you might have destroyed them...)
