Hello, I don't own any Fleischmann rolling stock but would be interested in finding older items if they would work with Maerklin relex couplers. Does anyone have any first hand experience with the two together or mods necessary? Thank you.

I modified one old Fleishmann's coach to marklin relex couplers. I remember I had to drill out a little pop rivet, but I can't remember what I had to do after that. I did like the results of my work. |

Depending on the model, you need Fleischmann coupling 6523 or 6524. Remove the pin, change the coupling and place the pin back in place. I have replaced several couplings in this way. Modern Fleischmann wagons have a NEM shaft. Making changing couplings much easier. But for the older models replacment couplings are still available. Pop rivets are only used on the cheapest models. |

Thank you for the reply and pic. What is the difference between the two couplers? Type of mount or length?

Please consult a Fleischmann catalogue. Or give us the number of the Fleischmann wagon, or a picture from the coupling seen from the bottom of the wagon. |
