'At the weekend, the model museum at Uzes, in the South of France, was raided and a substantial number of model locos, coaches and other items were stolen. Models taken include those by Meunier, Fournereau and from K-Lines and the GUR-RUG. The latter was developed from a layout called the Gutland Railway, built by Anglo-Irish modeller Captain W. Kelly when he lived in Kent as a neighbour to G.P.Keen (a founder of The Model Railway Club and after whom its London HQ is named). After Kelly's death, his railway went to Henri Girod-Emery's Museon de Rodo (that's 'Museum of the Wheel' in Provencale French) and became the GUR-RUG, (Gutland Uzetian Railway - Reseau Uzes Gutlande)'.

'The museum is actually at Arpaillargues very close to Uzes'.

'I am awaiting a detailed list of what is missing but in the meantime, Eric Petit, the curator of the museum has asked if readers can be alerted in case they are suspicious of the origin of models offered to them for sale'

Yes, when beings, (I don't refer to them as poeple) have no respect for others collections of art as well as in the former Marklin incident steal or destroy them. They are not even in a class with Robin Hood. It is a scumacious act. One should not be envious or jealous of such a museum, but want to enjoy the splendor of the sharing given by the owners. Use the experience for inspiration of our individual positive hopes and dreams. I imagine the hard work the curator(s) did to create it. The labor done by the collector to obtain the items. Maybe they are a doctor, or professor. Shame on those negative raiders.

Sorry to hear that. Thefts like these are usually done to order, they're probably already tucked away in some collector's shelf already, way too high profile items to be Ebayed or sold on the open market.
