Hey:

Does anyone know where to get the 1/100th sitting passengers? I have a few cars that I would like to detail. I know Lutz has been able to find them in Germany.

I saw those, but I didn't see any sitting passengers. If you have a link, that would be great.

Mark,
I bought some 1:100 figures from ebay. It comes from China and is sold by a person called everydaygoodz. The quality of these figures are average to poor. If a Preiser figure is a 10, these would be a 2 or 3. You get what you pay for. These are good for the far corner of the layout where the details will not be too visible. BTW - Thanks for your advice on installing the loksound decoder on my loco. Just completed the conversion today and works great. Very easy conversion. Only problem is the strip for the rear LEDs do not fit snugly in the new board and the rear lights don't work. May be a problem with the board.

The batch I bought contains both sitting and standing figures. Mostly standing. You could try contacting everydaygoodz and ask him to ship only the sitting ones. He is very responsive.

Hmmm....I thought Preiser had a hole set of unpainted, seated passengers in 1/100th. Does anyone think that the 75101 TT set would be too small?

Hello,

don't tell me that we are going to get into an argument over 1:100 vs 1:87 people. And then one manufacturer is going to bring out 1:93.5 people just to make things more confusing.[}:)]wink

Preiser and other manufacturers make sets of passengers that can be built into coaches. Not all shop websites list or show all available styles. Consult the catalog or the manufacturer's website for more details.

Would a tall, overweight 1:100 person be the same as a normal 1:87 guy?

and which one would Armando think was more realistic?[:o)]biggrin

Mike , in some of Marklin Dining cars there is just not enough room to put 1:87 sitting passengers into the seat. Have to use 1:100 or 1:120 . Not getting into an argument re carriage size/scale but available room between table and seat.

Mike hi,

It is best to use 1/100 people in 1/100 cars - else like noted you have space problems - I did.

@ Nev & Cem,

I was making a joke of the topic. Especially the 1:93.5 people.
As Maerklin is known for interiors that aren't to scale, you may have to cut off the legs of the people in order for them to fit (in a dining car, ie 4297 for example). The tables are not as high as they should be and the seats may also be out of proportion to scale.
1:100 people should solve the issue, although I am sure that some modellers would be amused to see your scale challenged people (politically correct).

Regards

As I understand it the problem is usually with the thickness of materials. If you made a HO scale coach with scale thickness plastic walls it would crumple when handled. Unfortunately, when you make the walls thicker there's less space for the interior, and the plastic used for the seats, tables, partitions etc is also thicker than scale so there's even less space available for passengers.

I use the sitting passengers from Preiser and Faller.
See: http://home.kabelfoon.nl/~pabrijs/pab-couplers.htm

They come in packages of 6, 12, 48 and more.
e.g. Art# 14400, 14404.
See: http://www.preiserfigure...php?SiteID=29&lang=1

The Faller passengers are a little bit thinner (art#: 153001)

Most of the time you have to cut off their feet (if present) [}:)]

Hmmm,

I think I'll prefer small but "whole" people instead of scale but "half" people on my layout. Smile I have a half guy sitting in the Micheline cab and he's enough ... oh, I have a 1/4 guy in the cockpit of a peashooter too - that makes one 1/2, and one 1/4 person.

Yep, have enough, rest will be whole! biggrin
