Just a thought: The Marklin mikado could be made into early SNCF 141 R. The running gear is basically there. A slightest modified boiler, add bumpers, french cab, smoke lifters and tender. There is a easy recipe for new Marklin model. Ed |

I agree. I have held off buying a US mikado in the hope Marklin would come out a with the French version. |

I really do agree, there is a desperate lack of AC French steam other than reparations locos...

Hi, I would be the first to deplore the lack of French steamers in Marklin's line up. The reality of the market is that French model RRoaders are largely two rails, ever since Hornby, the dominant brand, converted from three to two rails in the sixties. But another problem is that it seems French hobbyist are not ready to pay for Marklin type of prices, although they like the quality!!(I run a Marklin 2-rail Capitole loco on our two rail Club Layout, and everyone agree that it is the best performer of all our locos) Still Marklin has no excuses now, with the TRIX line, they could easily sell *tons* of 141Rs!!!!, including several versions: with or without Boxpok wheels, oil or coal fired, different paint scheme, etc. My two cents

I agree. Why Marklin doesn't produce more french prototypes. M* has put more belgians than french locomotives in recent time. It is odd. The CC 40100 and pba cars are a promissing start abeit some design problem and choice of sound decoder. I don't know if they are sold out, but I still see the belgian version of CC40100 for sale. [8)] The 141 R would be a great model since they were built by the 100's with many variations. The "Capitole" with red cars would be a hit too. 241 P, 232 U1...[V] Ed |
