A couple of weekends ago Leah & I took Isabelle, our 2 1/2yo grand-daughter to see "Thomas The Ink Ingine" who came to the local vintage railway at Glenbrook.

Yep Dave - sure is.
It will do until I get a decent pic of my favourite lok.
Believe it or not this is a model!

Hi Macca,
Nice Photos, I live within earshot of the railway, so it's interesting to see the railway from someone else's perspective. I was on the beach that weekend, else I might have come to take a look as well. I did see Mainline steam's bagnall AKA Thomas arrive in a well wagon though.
Handy hint: if you look at the driver nicely and ask if you can have a ride in the cab, he will take on 2 people.

Ha - young Rick...
Lucky sod - I love the sight and sounds of steam.
It has been a long time (too long) since I had been there despite best intentions.
Having bubs and knowing how she loves trains and trucks it was a great opportunity.
Once when daughter Tracey was a teen the young fireman took a shine to her so the two of us were invited to ride the footplate of 644.

Ditto here, I usualy only go when there is something special on, as there is more action and by now I know the place quite well. I would just love to be at the control of such a beast, which needs muscle and elbowgrease, as well as a delicate touch. so far, steam engine is the closest we've come to making a living creatue. that's why I'll volunteer there after exams.
they're also extening the line into waiuku, which should be done by easter. I bet they're gonna have one helluva party that weekend, with who knows how many locomotives in steam. so reserve that spot on your calendar.
