Hi! Today I went for a walk an decided to take a few photos to show you how does it look a Portuguese train station from the XIX Century.
This one is called Estação do Rossio (Rossio's Train Station)
I hope that you all enjoy, the pictures are not that good because I used the mobile phone camera.

Hi Fred,
Pictures are very well done.
I guess that is Moorish, or Islamic style architecture?

Have you asked Faller or Vollmer to make a model. It would be rather good.

Kimball

Hi Kimball!

It´s the Portuguese interpretation of Gothic Architecture, named Neo-Manuelino, meaning, Gothic and Portuguese architecture mixed, and from the Portuguese side I guess that there are Islamic influence, lot's of architecture arround here has been influenced by Islamic roots.

Hi Ozzman,

We have 4 Train stations here in Lisbon: Rossio, Cais do Sodré, Gare do Oriente and Santa Apolónia. All of them are important. Santa Apolónia and Oriente are the link out of the country.

I'm glad that You enjoyed.

Hi!
Today I visited another train station here in Lisbon.
Once again I used the Mobile Phone Camera.
This train station is named Cais do Sodré, XX Century (1928).

This railroad is celebrating the 120th aniversary. It's very special because it goes along the shore, so you're able to see the river and then the sea.

This is a Station up North, named Pocinho, here in Portugal, btw and in my opinion one of the most beautiful. Pay atention to the tile work. Train station from the XIX Century(1887).

I just love to see so many classic looking train stations that have not been all destroyed by modernism and "economists rationale"... Old stations are built to last, and one of the charms of entering a classic station is to feel the heritage of times gone by... Every major station has a history and a story to tell if you look for it...
