I would definately love to see one of these beasts presented by Marklin or Brawa in HO scale.

The Gerrat's are truly beautiful steam locomotives.

2). The early bird may get the worm, but it's the second rat that gets the cheese.

I found this review here a couple months ago:
http://www.modelrailforu...page=Eureka-AD60-Garratt

Very pricey, won't accept anything less than R2 curves, conversion to AC looks to be a pain.

Looks very beautiful though....
I think will look great next to all our German steamers.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

A$ 944.00 with sound.
Conversion to AC: My suggestion add a van behind the loco with a pickupshoe and electrical coupling

Thanks John for the links.
I well remember the red Beyer Garratts around Rockhampton, hauling the coal trains in 4 wheel hoppers out of Moura in 1963. This was before they built the direct line to Gladstone. So it was long way round through Rannes and Mt Morgan.
My photos of those machines near Moura seem to have diappeared. I had one under the coal loader at the Moura mine. 25 years later, the loader had not changed.
Many of those red Beyer Garratts were built in France for Queensland Railways.
regards
Kimball

Yes John,
The contract for 30 was given by QR to Beyer Peacock in Manchester, England.
They sub-contracted construction of 20 of them to Societe des Chemins de Fer Franco Belge, to their plant in Raismes, France.
They arrived in 1951.

Kimball

Queensland has the Standard Australian Garrett during the 2nd WW. they were a bit of a failure and all were scrapped by about 1946-7.

The Bayer Garrett in the first Video that John quoted is back in the workshops at Ipswich for an Overhaul
