I am going to Friedrichshafen later this week and would be grateful for some recommendations on things to see and shops to visit!
Please share!
Friedrichshafen is a two hour drive from Göppingen, so perhaps a visit there would be an option!

Hi: I have been to a concert at a BASF-funded concert hall in Friedrichshafen. I assume there are many cultural events in town, and like the one I attended, open to the public but arranged by BASF primarily for their employees.--MM |

Thanks all for your tips! I will use them as my guidebook!
BTW... BASF are they still in operation? Did they not make video and cassette-tapes? :D

The Badische Anilin- und Soda Fabrik is still one of the largest chemical companies...
I still remember having BASF reel & cassette tape in the early 70's...
They do have a sinister historical record with their daughter company IG Farben, though, but it seems like it's all mostly "forgotten" now... IG Farben was the company who made the infamous "Zyklon B"...

Friedrichshafen is on Lake Constance (Bodensee), so a boat tour would seem appropriate. Also, you can go round the lake by train. The Pfaender mountain is also worth a visit: http://www.pfaender.at/engl.html . Depending on your energy levels, either go up via cable car and walk down, or the other way round It's a wonderful part of the world; I'm sure you'll have a great time. |

BASF has interesting ads, at least in English in the US where they say: "We don't make a lot of the products you buy. We make a lot of the products you buy better." So...--MM |
