Does anyone know anything about this model?
A review if it is possibleconfused
I like very much collecting tank wagons so i guess that would be an ideal loco, plus the first generation cinus that it has.

I'm looking for the owner of that horse. He's tall, blonde, he smokes a cigar, and he's a pig!

Go for it.
Similar to the ÖBB 1016 (39355, 22.5cm)-(Catalogue 200-2001), against 21.3cm for the SBB Re 460)-(Catalogue 2002-2003).
the only thing missing is a horn. (sound decoder)

I have had no trouble with this loco at all (sinus motor)

I have 39605 and 39610 Re 460s - basically similar model to 39608.
A smooth and quiet running model with enormous torque.

Unlike the 37460 or starter set 460s, they also have a single red LED for rear light - similar to recent Croc models. So you can run it 3white - 1 white or 3 white - 1 red.
They also run much quieter than their DCM counterpart which IMO is one of the noisiest DCM models that I have (big hollow body makes for an amplified DCM vaccum cleaner noise).

These models don't have a very high top speed though - but it shouldn't matter too much.
Now collecting C-Sine models.

I have the 39608 ChemOil lok. I actually got it a few months before it was released. I noticed it on eBay and submitted a bid on it. At the time, I had not even heard that this model was coming. Once I had received it, I mentioned it to Ken Brzenk at Maerklin and he was not even aware that it existed.
About two months later, the model was announced and was delivered later that year. It was the second to last of the Swiss Collection of Re 460s equipped with C-Sinus.
At the time the prototype went into service, the Re 460s were divided between Passenger and Cargo Divisions, with loks 460 000 to 460 078 assigned to passenger operations and 460 079 to 460 118 assigned to the cargo division. Around 2002, the Re 460s were transferred to the Passenger Division. In return, all the Re 6/6 (620) and Ae 6/6 (610) were assigned to cargo operations.
Since then, passenger traffic with a few exceptions has been handled by Re 460 or Re 4/4II. The Re 6/6 and Ae 6/6 can no longer be seen hauling passenger trains.

The ChemOil lok could be used to haul any train, as it was used for Cargo and then continued for a while to haul passenger trains in the same livery before being repainted in the regular SBB livery around 2004. Currently, there is a Re 482 that carries the ChemOil logo.

Regards

Lutz,

I bought my lok on eBay from seller Gazata in July 2002. The model showed up in late Fall 2002 as a Herbstneuheit. It was only officially announced as a model in September 2002.

I presume that it likely may have come from a first batch that was sold internally. At the time I received mine, none of my Swiss dealer contacts knew about the model when I contacted them for more info. I even sent a few of them photos of the lok.

Regards

39608 can found in the Complete program 2002/03 catalogue.

There is lots of other swiss electric locos in the catalogue as marked 100 years (1902-2002) of SBB CFF FFS (swiss railways)

Lutz,

the number on the bottom of the frame is 52042680 CE.

The 39608 was not listed as either an Export Model or as a New Item for 2002. A model of this locomotive in Z scale was announced.

The HO model did appear in the 2002-2003 catalog which came out in late 2002.

Regards

Thank you for inspired pictures, Lutz;- I normally don´t fancy "werbeloks";- I find that advertising detract my attention from otherwise formschöne locomotives;- regarding the ChemOil model,- I would make an exception, I think;- it looks rather attractive actually! I believe my usual dealer has one of these models in stock,- so perhaps I should get hold of it? By the way,- I wish Märklin would update the 460/5 model,- giving it the current SDS motor.

Congrats on your new lok!
You won't regret it.

Marklin had decided to step out of the Re 460 market for a while, it seems,
so the 39601-39610 models represent the best quality Marklin Re 460s that you can get these days.

Now collecting C-Sine models.

I've always wondered whether Lutz gets all these locos out to line them up for a photo, when a specific topic comes up in the forum, or whether he has a series of 'stock photos' to whip out when needed.

If he gets them out of their boxes, he must be swapping locos around madly every night!

Anyway, thanks for the interesting topic and photos guys!

If you like the HAG oil wagons, then you might want to obtain the model matching your loco with the ChemOil logo:
