I'm reading about switch engines, particularly BR 60s, but I have a hard time reading German when it gets too technical. I know Doppel A-Licht is used during switching manuevers. But what did it look like? Was it a separate light, or is it a different configuration of the regular lights? How would it be implemented in a BR 60 in early era III? I've done google.de, but I didn't come up with much.

Thanks!

Double A is simply what the name tells you: All three headlights turned on at the same time forms an A. Double because the lights are turned on both in the front and the rear.

Here we are in Maschen 2008, the double A on 294 034-7 is clearly visible: http://www.trixfan.com/Media/Ga...d_/_resized_IMG_7041.JPG - I know that because it is pushing the waggons over the hump.

Here the 140 438-3 running away from me, with the douple A turned on: http://www.trixfan.com/Media/Ga...d_/_resized_IMG_7068.JPG

Most new Märklin models have this feature in the decoder, if not, the models, which have eletronically seperate end and head lights, can be programmed to use double A. I have double A on some of my models turned on automatically when using the decoder's turtle mode.

More pictures from Maschen in general: http://www.trixfan.com/gallery.aspx

Best regards

Nice photo of the switching yard Lutz! Looks amazingly like the layout building page photo in the Marklin 1991-2 catalogue. Which hauptbahnhof is this photo?

That is Stuttgart. If you google for "Märklin" "Stuttgart" and "Hauptbahnhof" you will find a couple of links that will show you the famous Märklin model of this station. The tower which can be seen there is the tower from which the pics were taken.

Many regards,

Hans
I like M-track and my things that run on it were built between 1959 and 1972.

Many thanks for the excellent answers!

Edit: I figured out how to make "doppel a-licht" using my lokprogrammer and loksound decoder! Now turtle mode has all lights on. Really easy to do using this software, again thanks!
