Brawa VT72 Item 44735 is UNRELIABLE, low quality product

My experience bought in Göppingen last September during Märklin Open Days for 399 Euros, B-Ware

1.- Didn´t work once arrived back home and had a difficult time getting right customer support in Germany and in German ( thru Google Translate which is unbecoming in a modern industry)
2.- Finally got to them allowing me to send it back. Cost 32 euros which I understood would be refunded ( maybe Google translate error?)
3.- Weeks went past without any news. Thankfully I could trace the parcel and saw it had arrived. NOT A WORD from Brawa.
4.- Suddenly got a message from DHL about a mystery parcel arriving. Collected and opended, not a word, just the item in a box. It works this time, except for the interior light
5.- Set up a complex script and macros for a shuttle back and forth on my modest layout.
6.- It is USELESS: stops a few times, obviously in the worst places. UNRELIABLE on switches, C-track. One switch it stubbornly deviates even when the switch is set to all straight.

So in one WORD: USELESS!!

Recap:

1.- Good detail, even if for the most part the owner is expected to place and glue himself a great deal.
2.- Flimsy to the touch, too light on weight for it to work properly.

In Göppingen, I also bought a VT62, Märklin Blue livery. Same price and better and nicer packing. Typical Märklin, sturdy, heavy, works seamlessly on exactly the same Branch Line and same functions. Lacking a few sounds vs the Brawa, but gives peace of mind.

So I learnt the hard way to limit myself to Märklin Locomotives and Railcars. You don´t pay more, in this case, for a far superior product.

Hopefully my bad experience will help some of you all.

Too bad and sorry to hear for sure! In my experience Piko and Roco are of a fine standard too. I have some Brawa rail cars and they are okay. I once looked at a Brawa shunter with telex coupler and got it demonstrated in the shop. But the coupler didn't work - so I didn't buy it.
I also have some Danish brands like MCK, Dekas and Heljan and their engines mostly run fine too.

Maybe just try English? Their customer service (including part supply) - as recently as last month- has been great for me?

I did write in English. I have no knowledge of German. And in any case, I am a Native born American, so English is my first language.

They took two weeks and me insisting for them to answer in German. Customer service in my case was terrible.

And anyway, you needing customer service whether good or bad, sort of proves my point regarding their low quality, doesn´t it?

Cheers

I just want to add my own experience;
Bought a BRAWA E75 at a good price ("Sale") from MSL (Lippe).

I can only agree with the OP; the loco was absolutly USELESS. With that particular wheel-design it is absolutly IMPOSSIBLE that it could ever work with Märklin K and M tracks. (Cant speak for C, as I dont have that)
With that I mean to say, that my model was not faulty per sé, but that the INGENEERING was wrong!
I later found that this model is well known for its deficiencies on Märklin-track. I just wish that I had found it out before. (Morale: Always check internet and forums before buying!)

As I had bought it online, I simply "demanded" to return the item before 14 days, to Lippe, and was correctly re-imbursed. -Except for the return-shipping which left me out of pocket. :-(
My experience with Lippe has normally been good, but in this particular case I was clearly sent a B-ware (had been returned before), obvious from the glue-marks of the small parts that you are supposed to mount yourself, which was still mounted at one end of the loco. Upon complaining about that, I got no answer!
(Disclaimer; I am still shopping at MSL, as they are normally pretty good in most aspects, but as always; buyer beware!)

After returning the dud Brawa model, I sourced a used Märklin E75 in excellent condition on Ebay, which works flawlessly on my layout, and is one of my better locos!

For the record, I shop from Lippe and have no complaints. My VT Railcar I purchased directly at the Stand Brawa had set up in Göppingen during the Märklin Days. And repeating myself, same price for an excellent VT62 Märklin Railcar 399 euros, at the same event, purchased directly at the Märklin Official Stand.

So I agree, Brawa is the problem, be it design, wheels, or simply not an overall well made model.
