Hi everyone,

Do you guys know a site where we can order packages or boxes or a specific model? I have seral locos without boxes, I know the box + shipping will be expensive and sometimes it's hard to find.
I'm looking for marklin 37604 which is vt11.5 box.

Please provide any alternative or handcraft ideas.

Thanks Adrian

There are a few eBay.de dealers who feature a lot of empty boxes (leerkarton, leer karton, leerverpackung, leere verpackung, leere OVP). Keep an eye on Mega1Shop as they have some of the intermediate set cartons at present. The other seller I have used a few times is tee-103.
If you cannot find one, perhaps when they release a new version of the model, you can acquire the box and at least have a usable cradle for your model, even if the number on the box doesn't match.

Regards

expensive it seems

That's an understatement. I was looking at 66 Euro for postage to Australia for 51 Euro of flat boxes (10). That's about A$200 - not happening.

The packaging for locos is very specific for the model type because the plastic that holds the loco is very specific. The wrong sleeve can damage the loco. Better off just using bubble wrap to ship the loco or an ho carrier for transporting sets to shows. Somebody in Germany makes a gorgeous carrier for ho locomotives. You could custom cut foam to hold the loco. I have seen some for camera and lenses but they are simpler to custom cut for. The foam is resistant to shredding but soft and easy to shape with Xacto knives.

I am giving this a go --> https://modelbox.com.au/...model-box-style-a-single

Only relevant to Australian members. The freight to my place was $20. I will let you all know what I think of it when it arrives.

If you plan to keep them, maybe consider a display cabinet or storage drawer instead? I do this for me because it takes too long finding and unboxing wagons, this way I can just open the drawer and get it running:D

Maybe this would be a potential solution to hold the complete trainset: https://eyro.ch/gruppe,e...de/S6000,S6500,Transport

There are also these Linton boxes (expensive): https://www.linton.de/midi-trainbox/

TrainSafe travel or travelite is much more expensive: https://www.train-safe.d...Products/Storage/Travel/

The drawers, as mentioned previously, are an option, or you can have shelves,,
You can also buy plastic boxes and use foam inside, but I suggest the foam doesn't dematerialize with oil and is resistant to UV (even if the box is closed most of the time.

If you prefer to have assembled trains, you can use wood a bit longer than the train lenght with C track screwd and glued on top ( I use some screws and glue). Then you can add transparent acrylic walls UV resistant and go further by add on top an acrylic roof. The with of the wood can be from 47 to 50 mm.

In ebay.de there used to be several for models, mostly of the 60ies. Lately I am not searching ebay.

If you prefer the specific model original box, Mike's suggestion is spot on.
As he describes, many are available on eBay.
eg. a search 39191 leerkarton (or the other German terms) will often find the box for you.

For single wagons, I can often find the correct size plastic box and lid in the $2 shops, and I print my own label.
I buy the foam/ceramic cleaning blocks from Daiso in packets of 30 or 40.
These fill up the voids in the box, and keep the model from being damaged.
The blocks come in 30x30x30 or 40x30x30 mm cubes.
