I have a few Roco engines, all with ESU LokPilot or LokSound decoders controlled by DCC only:

Roco 43863 / SBB Ae 6/6 / Motor 85060
Roco 69730 / SBB Re 6/6 / Motor 85112
Roco 43952 / BLS Ae 6/8 / Motor 85093

I haven't really found out how to set the CV:s 53-56 for these engines, and sometimes they stall uphills. I have tested the automatic calibration (CV54=0), but experience no improvement. Any suggestion on CV settings for these engines would be appreciated!

It might help to know what you are using in your attempts. CS3? Programming track? I don't know for certain but it might not be possible to change some or all cv's of non Marklin decoders with a CS3. You may need the ESU programmer for ESU decoders.

Oh, I have an ESU LokProgrammer but the relevant CV:s should also be possible to set using a CS3 or CS2 (which I also have).

The problem occur when the engines are moving very slow, at set threshold speed and uphill: It seems as if the decoder doesn’t provide enough ”torque” to the decoder.

Hi Pe,

Start an new project for LP5 or LS5 and under motor select load control values from preset motor types.
Select Default settings (these are Roco defaults)

Under Driving characteristics don't change the Acceleration and deceleration values from the defaults

Then write to the decoder and see how the motor runs.

Asking questions what to change is difficult when you don't supply the project file for others to assess.

Still too little information. Do the wheels spin or stop turning? Since you feel the problem is lack of torque does that mean the wheels stop spinning and the motor whines? Does it happen at the same locations? Is there a consist? Are you expecting too much from an electric motor the size of a silver dollar?
