I bought a couple of TRIX deep well articulated cars, thinking they were Marklin.
I have many cars that have DC wheels, and I have had very few derailment problems (those I have changed).
Should I try to get the correct AC wheels for these TRIX cars?

Trix is made by Marklin - it's their 2-rail range.
As far as I can tell, they are compatible.
Only change the wheelsets that cause derailments.

Hi
Exactly like Dave says, recent Märklin and Trix are exactly the same production, wheel spacing (must be 14.0 mm), flanges, etc.
C 6track and Trix track are almost identical except for two-rail electrical arrangements (frog connections and one additional switch in turnouts)

I converted a Trix 25241 (SNCF 241A65) into a Märklin equivalent and can say:
- same production
- insulated axles
- specific PCBs and slightly different decoders (program slight change)

On the other hand, I deal sometimes with temperature-related things that may cause derailments by cold weather (coupling cinematic to lubricate with dry silicon spray)

Cheers
Jean

Thanks guys!
What about the couplers ( have not received the cars yet) are they the same as Marklin?
I imagine they use the sane picket if the couplers are different…

I have a few Trix feight cars on my layout they have the same Märklin couplers. And they run just fine just fine on my K-track Layout. I did eventually switch the DC wheels to Märklin AC wheels to ensure my s88 detection was consistent but i didnt have any derailing issues with the original wheels.
Märklin H0 for sale
My Layout Build | Märklin CS3+ | K-track | Merkur | Viessmann | LDT | iTrain | Rolling Stock: Märklin, Roco, Piko, ESU/Pullman | Modeling primarily DB/DB AG EpIV-VI

@egonzinc
Coupler pockets (NEM = Normes Europeenes de Modélisme) are after an internional standard defined by MOROP MOROP is is a European association to define standards so that adhering companies (Märklin, Trix and others) propose fully compatible rolling stock, track, track pieces, etc

Nowadays, NEM pockets are in association with a cinematic arrangement to increase the distance between vehicles depending on curves
The NEM pocket allows also to replace a normal coupling by an electromagnetic one (to uncouple any car, anywhere by a digital command on a decoder)

Here is more on MOROP https://www.morop.org/index.php/en/nem-the-norms.html

NEM pockets allow you to use ANY compatible type of coupling. Usually coupling are simply plugged in the NEM pocket so that a Märklin, Trix, Roco, Fleischmann vehicle can make a consist without any obstacle.

Märklin and Trix are companies belonging to the same conglomerate Simba Dickie. They use the same production tool, factories with only minor alteration for 2 rails or 3 rails (insulated, non-insulated wheelsets. Trix and Märklin couplings are EXACTLY the same.

Cheers
Jean

Trix HO and Maerklin models are often the same other than the wheelsets. In the catalog, the relevant AC or DC wheelsets are listed for those wishing to use the model on the other system.
Where there is a difference is the limited number of models specifically released for Trix Express (3 rail DC) which have special wheelsets and different couplings, requiring conversion of the couplers for use with other models.
Trix HO, Roco and other brands can often be used trouble free on K Track and most C Track. You may experience issues if using original DC wheelsets on M Track.

Regards

Mike C

Recent Trix Express items use NEM coupler pockets, and have specific couplings that match the height of the standard Trix Express couplings. So these days any new Trix Express irolling stock (as distinct from locos) are the same as any other Marklin/Trix H0 items apart from couplings and wheels. Because of this it is possible to use recent Trix Express items on Marklin or Trix systems by changing the wheel sets and couplings.
