Hello guys,

I was looking at all my locos manual and noticed that some of the maintenance accessories are different.
e.g for one loco( newer version) it says in the manual that I need to use 7149 but in others ( old ones) i see 7199
same applies for smoke generator , the new ones uses 02421 and I see on my bigboy 37990 it says 02420

1. I think that 7149 and 02421 are the new improved oils, not sure, my guess is based on a brief documentation. Can anyone confirm this?
2. Should I use 7149 and 02421 , is there a difference ?

For lubrication oil, the 7149 is fine. 7199 is the old version, and might harden?.

For smoke oil, the new type is 02422 / 02423. This can be used in old and new smoke generators.

Do not use the old 02420 in the new dynamic smoke generators. But you can use it in the old type smoke generators, like in the Big Boy etc.

The new smoke oil doesn't leave residue, and can also be used for cleaning.

For 38141 which is a new loco 2024-2025 they recomand the old Smokie oil 02420.
I'm puzzeled right now...Confused

38141 uses a older type 72270 smoke generator, so 02420 is fine
