Hi all. Okay, so this is not about Marklin locos but is about Marklin 3-rail so hope this is all right to post here.

with reference to this thread (please go to top) --> https://www.marklin-user...-BR-89-0---30000-decoder

I too seem to have destroyed two decoders by inadvertently switching the + and - wires on the layout (although all other locos on the layout were unaffected).
(Locos affected are Piko Expert 52513 (245 loco) and Piko 51756 (140 loco).

In the linked post, Jean says one cannot destroy decoders in this fashion (that gave me hope).

But I've just been and tried resetting the decoders, changing the CV's 8, 50 and 1 to no avail.
The MS2 will not read or write any CV's, so to my mind the decoders are DEAD, although the 140's triple lights at both ends flash.

I see from other posts here that Piko's customer service for replacement parts to non-EU countries is non-existant, so would
MSL be able to obtain new decoders for me, or is there some other way?

Any info, help, advice, money etc. gratefully received.

BTW - the money bit is a joke.

Dear Dave -

That "Find loco" on the MS2 ultimately worked for me (though it didn't seem to by the MS2's response). Try Jean's second suggestion (unclear whether you did)?

Some Piko decoders support mfx. If you want to access CVs using DCC, disable mfx in the MS2 first.
"Find loco" may now work - with just one loco on the track.
A reset should now work writing 8 to CV 8 or so - consult the loco manual.

To try mfx, make sure mfx is enabled in the MS2.

BTW: The same decoders are used for two-rail locos. Take a loco of the track, turn it 180° and put it back on the track - and you have swapped red and brown. Ouch! But it won't do any harm.
Regards
Tom

Yes, tried all that. Wouldn't find either of the locos.
Even tried to manually input them but no (wouldn't write to CV's).

And the Ms are fine on the main layout, so problem has to be with decoders as far as I can make out.

Interesting ... tried that, in all formats, to no avail.
Try to read/write a CV - it times out.
Do a find - nothing found.

That was my result, too: No loco found.
But when I tried running the loco, it responded. Go figure. Confused

If the MS2 cannot read the loco (on the programming track), how can
you run it on the main? It wouldn't be on the MS2 roster, would it?
