Dear All -

I possibly damaged the decoder on a BR 89.0 loco in a 29890 starter set (also listed as a separate loco 30000) by reversing the B & O wires to the track due to imperfect eyesight. (Symptoms: The decoder no longer responds to the MS2 throttle or light control, though with track power on when you draw the loco backwards with your finger, it creeps forward - the decoder's ABV or load compensation is still working. Reset with CV8 = 8, CV50 = 12, CV1 = 3 yields no joy.)

A decoder swap-out seems advisable. Looking on Marklin's spare parts website, I find two different listings for the decoder: 392334 (from the 29890 manual) and E107463 (from the 30000 manual). Neither shows up on a Marklin parts search. What would you suggest doing to locate a replacement?

Hi Osoraku
You cannot damage a decoder by swpping the wires B and O
With you MS2, I suggest you reset the loco's decoder:
- install the loco ALONE on the layout
- write CV8=8 and it will reset the decoder.

Under all probability, you accidentally changed the loco's address (so it is not responding to its former address).

How to find the address?
- install the loco alone on the layout
- on the MS2 select an unused location among the 40 possible one (rotate the knob while pushing the shift key
- pust shift and the loco symbole and scroll tp find a fonction called "detect" and select it
- the MS2 will search for any MFX, DCC and MM2 address and will let you know
- piece of cakeBigGrin

Cheers
Jean

That is a relief to know (I did not think that it was possible). But I did do the resets before posting (CV8=8, CV50=12, CV1=3), with no results.

In the way that you suggested with the MS2, I tried to find the address with the response, "No loco found". However, some digital magic occurred and the loco started responding to its default MFX address. Halelujah! Thank you for the suggestion.
