Right so the issue is this: I have a Marklin Digital railway with a MS2 as my controller running 5.3 software, I had a second MS2 but I sold it.
I have 11 locomotives on said railway, the 11th being a second hand Marklin 37990, aka Big Boy 4013. Unique for having 2 decoders in it
But I have a problem, after I assigned it in my MS2 through the database list, somehow function F4 activates both the cab lighting AND the shunting mode.
Additionally it doesn't respond to any changes I make to its acceleration and braking delays when before the software update it did.

I'm just all around confused and frustrated and would really like some help or advice on how to fix this.

It appears someone changed the decoder in the loco as the Marklin description of the loco is that it is fx and does not have that function so you may be out of luck. There are ways to change cv settings with a MS but much easier with a CS I would try doing a reset and if that did not solve the problem find someone with a CS and as a last resort try changing the cv with the MS. Marklin has been combining functions on cvs and it looks like you nave the wrong function now.

Has the original decoder been replaced ?
Note that, from the factory on the original decoder, Cab lights and disabling of the acceleration and braking delays are both on the F4, ref the manual page 51. (this can not be changed)
And the only way to adjust the acceleration and braking delays on the original decoder is to open the locomotive and adjust it on the decoder with a screwdriver ref page 46 in the manual.
So if your 37990 it still has the original decoders?, They won't react to any attemps to make changes from the MS2.
This is also how it was on my 37990, before I upgraded it with an mSD3 decoder.

The original loco had two decoders on adjacent addresses, which will be why there are two functions labelled F4. It sounds like the new ms2 software release is sending the F4 message to both decoders instead of treating one as F8.

Write a letter to Marklin service saying that the new software release has this problem, where it never used to have a problem with this loco previously.
